Wait!!
We were sold the idea that the ECNL league was the answer.
THUSC, FC Portland and LOSC/Crossfire don't have a snowballs chance in hell of getting an 'Academy' program with the Timbers/Thorn owning that right.
Brilliant.

US Soccer
Is only recognizing the Timbers and Thorns as candidates for the Development Acadmey program in Oregon. So they do in fact own this special right.
Sorry.

Since you can't read here it is.
U.S. Soccer is exploring three initiatives that it hopes will strengthen the women's program:
-- residency program for girls;
-- development academy for girls; and
-- summer program for college women.
U.S. Soccer works with the ECNL, the 77-club circuit operating nationally in five age groups, in terms of player development.
"The next step would for U.S. Soccer to operate an academy-like setup like it does on the boys side with the Development Academy with its own rules for monitoring player development"

This sounds like the opposite of what OYSA/TA girls teams do in Oregon. OPL/NWCL/ECNL are the ones that are currently playing girls up, pushing them more, challenging them and getting them out of their comfort zone.

MLS is the BOYS ACADEMY WORKING WITH USSDA. DONE DEAL.
NEXT UP THORNS WORKING WITH US SOCCER FORTHE GIRLS ACADEMY.
The article highlights how the GIRLS side of things wants to match the boys and have an ACADEMY (Portland representative for the boys is an MLS Academy).
Thorns would be the GIRLS choice of US Soccer for the development ACADEMY.
Unless you read somewhere it was going to be Crossfire United or FC Portland (LOL)
