    OPL Winter League

    Ouch.

'B' team HS aged Jamboree for JV players from West Linn, Lake Oswego, Gresham, Vancouver, Tigard and Milwaukee.

    Oregon Premier league, really?

That's what it's meant to be. A no travel league for B teams. What's the excuse for the poor quality of the OYSA league! Now that's an ouch!

Nothing wrong with that. Low cost no travel for B teams that are as good as OYSA A teams. Can't complain.

          $800

To play your neighborhood JV teams on fields you must provide.

          OPL really.

Them tack on $1600 for a club fee.

Why even have a league? Just hire a ref when all these teams train together on the weeknights together.

Unreal parents have to deal with this sham.

It's a great deal isn't it? $600 goes to pay the refs for your 5 home games. The other $200 ensures you don't have to spend thousands more travelling all over the state to play teams no better than what you can play in Portland. Sounds like a really good deal.

Now if you want to talk about a sham, there's this thing called the Timbers Alliance...

              Very good points.
We are playing OYSA and have to make the trips to beat Medford, Eugene, Bend, and Vancouver teams. It was much better overall competition in OPL before Timbers took over OYSA and made all our TA teams move over.

So let me be sure I understand, it is a $200 payment to prevent anyone from forcing us to travel? Personally I have enjoyed the travel. Sorry you are so much of a recluse. It must make life lonely.

I couldn't ask for more proof you are on the outside looking in eating a steady feed of OPL propaganda.

The timbers did not make TA teams do anything. OPL drove those clubs away with irrational demands and a take it or leave attitude. To OPL's surprise that backfired and they left it.

Sure that's what happened. The Timbers told all members of the Alliance that they HAD to move to the Timbers League. There was NO choice. And, like lemmings, the TA clubs obeyed and followed them over the cliff.

What were the "irrational demands" from the OPL? That you field teams that actually play soccer and not thugball bootball?

Why are we paying for this league?

Many of our games our vs teams that we train side by side with each week at practice fields in Lake Oswego, West Linn & Tigard.

Why did our 'A' teams leave for the OYSA and leave us stuck playing each other over and over.

Paying for a league of scrimmages is silly.

Would of been nice if the so called leadership had mentioned all the better teams in our club were moving to the OYSA.

Recreational soccer disguised as Premier league soccer is disingenuous.

If your kid was good, they'd be on the "A" team and playing against that level of competition. Since he's not, I'm sure he's getting appropriate competition in the OPL.

Totally agree. This split does no one any good. For a while justification was thrown out about elite girls, but with the ECNL teams they are no longer in the OPL.

Which would still make most of them better then anything in OYSA by the looks of it and they don't have to travel to Medford.

                              Here it is

During the HS winter league (OPL) leading up to no less than 4 of our weekend matches , the week prior our team will train side by side with our future weekend opponent, the kicker we train and play games at the same place. We don't even get to work on things outside the confines of our opponents. Island soccer in Oregon.
