That is, we all know that it may take a few years for anyone to decide or determine that a particular sport may not be what they want to do anymore. The article didn't discuss one of the primary reasons for quitting sports, or anything requiring a lot of time each week, social pressure. Young ladies and young gentlemen find the opposite sex has a certain allure. Unexpected interest in a new, non-sport. There is only so much time. My DD's friends on their teams, soccer, track, volleyball, softball were the main ones, didn't quit all sports very often. In fact, surprisingly not often at all.
Kids quit because of parents

I am so tired of reading articles about why, I want a change!
We grumble that on 1 % make it to college and then we grumble that kids are quitting in droves, but we forget sports are suppose to be fun, so kids can blow some stream off and not be couch potatoes! But parents have made sports into, if your not going pro why bother!
