Is U12 going to 9v9 this year?

After spring season. The current U11s will play 9v9 for the 2015-16 season. The current u12s continue to play 11v11 this spring and into u13 for 2015-16 season.

Is this true for the OPL or only Timbers?

US Soccer mandate that doesn't have to be followed...

OYSA, WSYSA, Nor Cal, So Cal, Idaho and the rest of Region IV is going to that model.
I don't think OPL is going to that model.

it's a great model, more touches on the ball. change to 11v11 when they change to a size 5 ball.

most parts of the world do 8v8 until U13

Link to where CalSouth is changing? Or Nevada? Or NorCal (not CalNorth)?

I know you won't believe me so I will only say it once. I'm not going to go to every website to find the link for you. I will say that I rub elbows with all of the technical directors in region IV and every director has said that they will be making the change by 2016...all but two will make the change in 2015.
I'm not sure about PSPL or OPL though.

I do strongly recommend that if you have a child playing the game that playing 9v9 for as long as possible is a good thing to do

They have also mandated 7v7 at u10 which is going to pay dividends in about 5years
All of these changes are going to pay off in a few years time.

If your child is playing 11v11 before they are 12 then you are failing your child

So you have an opinion (good for you) but no facts to back it up. Typical.

The Timbers are doing it so it must the best, I suppose. Just like everything else the Timbers do...

We've lived elsewhere and I've spoken with soccer parents from other parts of the country and 9v9 is used in some parts of the country. And exactly for the reasons that you say: more touches. Personally, I don't know if I failed my child since they played 11v11 because that is what the leagues played. Should I have demanded 9v9 or taken my kid out? If indeed they are making the changes you state, I believe it to be a good thing. And it will benefit the development.

Typical resonse. This isn't about a p(i)ssing contest. Smaller sided games at younger ages are good. Or did you kids play 11v11 at U6?

i've never heard of one of the teams, but Ajax, seems to be fine with a small sided game..

Which state won all Region IV ODP divisions last year and 8 out of 10 this year? CalSouth. What format do they play at U11/12 in the Coast League or the SCDSL or Presidio League? 11v11. Just think how much they'd smack Oregon ODP teams around if they played 9v9 instead...

                              that's the point.

think of how good california teams would be if they played 9v9!? even better than they are now.

imagine how good USA would be if we all switched to 9v9? possibly even better than cal south.
