Opl winter teams

Yikes!
Looks like we will be moving to OYSA this winter. BU16 is terrible!

Boys teams are going from 37 teams total from all agegroups in winter 2014 to 22 teams this coming winter season 2015....they may only put together a BU16 with two divisions.....
That means no 15's, 17's or 18's

Girls aren't as bad....they had 41 total teams from u15-u18 and are scheduled to have 27 this winter.

The inevitable is going on. When Timbers moved over and took over OYSA (leaving aside the comments about how/why), they took the TA teams with them. Then added TA teams wherever they could (Eugene, Medford, Bend, Salem...) and ended up with a good share of the boys competitive clubs, leaving FCP and Crossfire and a few select teams from BSC, etc... in OPL.
Timbers have the power and the position, so they're not going to have OYSA teams play in OPL. OPL sees that the best thing for boys youth soccer is to have all the best teams playing against each other, so they are getting USYSA cards for their players along with their USCLUB cards and entering some teams into OYSA.
I estimate that there's about one more season of bad soccer politics on the boys side.
On the girls side the best players are in OPL/ECNL for the most part, so it's not likely there will be the same type of dual-league membership. but it could happen at the younger ages...

You can't switch leagues now so I think you are stuck. You should have been able to figure out when FCP and Crossfire started moving boys teams over that the OPL was done on the boys side.

Information always goes out to the team managers several days before it gets posted anywhere to make sure there are no errors. My guess is that a team manager made that original post.

I highly doubt it. OYSA has preliminary schedules out already for the first two weeks of Winter league so I'm sure some folks have seen this info by now at OPL clubs.

Actually this is what they would like. FCP and CU administer the OPL and I am sure would like nothing better than to NOT have to deal with all those little annoying so-unworthy clubs.

The part you missed is that about half the teams are from FCP or CU, the other teams are at best C level rec teams, they are only tolerated because the big two Hope to recruit all their players and put those clubs out of business.
