Counting the 8 ECNL teams, clubs in the OPL actually increased the number of girls teams by 3 this year. Growth is growth.

      Timbers teams -9 (10.7%)

Pretty sad that 7 Timbers clubs can't scrape together any more than 9 teams across 4 age groups for the best tournament in the area for HS ages. Just further evidence of the decline of Timber's girls soccer.

Didn't say they did but they are teams in these age groups at clubs in the OPL. And higher quality than anything in OYSA. But it's all good if you want to keep believing there is a future in OYSA for girls soccer.

Maybe the ECNL teams will play in OPL? Getting some touches in the local league appears to be quite the winning strategy for the 'thorns' academy.

Not counting the FC portland teams who are required to play in their own tournament there aren't many OPL teams either. It's mostly out of state teams.

Maybe they're busy with the Tigard Festival of Balloons 6v6 Soccer Tournament...

Seriously, though, it makes no sense for any local team that considers themselves a top team to miss a local college showcase. But politics will be politics...

Politics are why other OPL teams are not attending?

I can't speak for other clubs but for ours the girls teams are pretty strong and are doing out of state winter tournaments. Probably didn't want to spend the money doing something more local like this. Not to say it's not a good tournament but I think you're going a little Conspiracy Theory to think TA teams intentionally avoided your tournament to punish an OPL club. Come to think of it I don't see too many OPL teams besides the FC Portland and Crossfire/THUSC groups. Pretty sad that the OPL clubs aren't more loyal to "their" tournament. Just further evidence of the decline of the OPL I guess.

I count 11 teams from clubs that play in the OPL, not including the 8 teams from FCP. That is 10 more than all of the Timbers clubs combined.

Of course, this is a "showcase", and maybe some of the Timbers teams don't "show" very well.

Lots of good teams from all over Region IV. Seems ridiculous to miss a local tournament with this level of quality.

Or they could be doing something else.

Perhaps more interesting of the 30 clubs listed. Only 13 of them are participating with even a single team. You can try to put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig.

The way to fix this is eliminate all the political BS. How many OPL teams played in the Eastside showcase? I don't particularly give a rip about your biased perception of which tournament has more quality. Comments like your last absolutely zero out any soccer credibility you may seek to have.
