The handball in the box as well as the foul in the box, two of the more difficult and most vocalized calls in youth soccer. I've seen refs call it very loosely, meaning it has to be a hard foul or an obvious hand ball. I've also seen it called very tightly, where almost any fall in the box is called and any ball that touches a hand, even if it's kicked into it, is called. I really don't mind either way being called. I just want them to be consistent.

      Westside

My son refs, but it is his contract that he doesn't have to ref any games that include Cony, either of the Duranged Durano Boyz or any other affiliated coach with Westside. Parents are nothing compared to them.

Giving these guys any money could be considered theft or stealing.

          More money requires more oversight

Sadly I just watched a Center with 10 years experience, who was paid $70, do a horrible job. You know the type, whoever hits the ground gets the call regardless if they were the one pushing and or if it was a clean ball tackle. Worse is when what is called in the first 5 minutes was never called until the last 5.

If we are going to pay more, and I think we have to, then we also have to demand more training and evaluations to make them more accountable and weed out the buffoons. Currently we don't have enough "bodies" to even think about loosing the weak links.
