That would be the team that Jill Farley is also on.

Given that the Thusc age group you site has had one more year of recruiting and has more quantity, but equal quality, then I think the Academy compares pretty well. One more year of recruiting and the Academy will add more offers in, at least at the Boise State and Montana State levels.

OK then have it your way, again, the poster put up that puny little college commit list and wanted to compare it to past FC Portland and THUSC teams. So there is on recent past THUSC team, do you think the Onyx list is going to be any less? Cherry picking one team "Iridium" to compare your college commit list is pretty lame if you ask me. THUSC has a very good history of placing players in college. So that Academy parent has to be someone that does not at all know what they are talking about, or just a troll.

Playing college soccer for girls is something they can do without any real excellent club playing background. The demand/need for girls to play at the college level is incredible. It's true hardly any Oregonians will ever be going to the year in year out division I powerhouses, unless we have a national team level in our midst. Any girls still playing OYSA/OPL/ECNL club soccer at u18 has a 100% chance of playing college soccer somewhere. Be it Com.Col, NAIA, NCAA D 2 or D3. These programs have huge supply needs for student athletes. Title IX legislation has created a huge supply need for girls interested in playing college soccer.

            1400+ Colleges field womens teams.

Most girls quit soccer after High School age and just want to attend college. So those that want to play somewhere you can. You may have to do a little digging to find the college that's the right fit for you athletically and academically.

That's fine but the OP's argument was that Academy has a comparable if not better commit list than past FC portland or THUSC teams, and that's just an ignorant statement to make. He can put it with all of the other ignorant statements he makes. It's a long list.

My take on college commit lists:

Teams don't get recruited, players do.

One of the leading reasons for staying with OPL prior to the award of ECNL, was that players would not be required to drive long distances to play inferior teams. One of those inferior teams was Bend.

Bend had as many commits as Sodium. So, even though Bend is not as strong of a club as THUSC it still had value.

Parents are trying to justify their participating in both ECNL and THorns based on conjecture that they call fact.

It is very unlikely that any pool (Thorns or ECNL) will get more offers per capita than previous pools since it is more talent driven than it is league affiliation driven.

Different strokes for different folks and in my opinion none of them are proven but all of them have potential.

That's fine, but the ECNL folks are claiming that they have all of the talent but the college committments to date refute this arguement. That's the point.

That is the part you are noticing. Read Thorns parents comments too. Both sides are throwing crap across the ditch at each other. BTW: this is a ditch created by our mighty youth soccer leaders:

                      Tom
                      Frasier
                      Gavin
                      Cony

It is all smoke and mirrors on both sides. There has not been a new system created that consolidates talent. Instead, they have fragmented it even more and have fooled the parents into bickering over the wrong issue. If your child is D1 material you should be pissed off!

                        Youth Soccer leaders?

Are the President's and Board of Directors of each club.

3 of the guys you listed just work for local clubs.

The other is the General Manager of the MLS Portland Timbers/Thorns.

They may be relevant in their clubs, true. But leaders of of our mighty youth soccer in Oregon?

You haven't been around that long have you? I sat on one of those boards for 3 years and got a first hand look at how that works. Just sayin.

Don't you think the girls whether it is ECNL or Thorns will be better prepared to move onto that next level. Particular now with the split.

No, I think by diluting talent even further we are preventing the top from getting the much needed high level play that is required to get to "the next" level.

Well, my dd is D1 material and I'm glad she committed and will sign her LOI in the future. It's nice to rise above all of this riff raff. Those mired in it, well I feel sorry for them.
