My husband and I were discussing our kid's U6 soccer coach and how he yells directives during the entire game. Although he is positive and not mean, shouldn't he not constantly be shouting directions and let the kids just play? My husband says it's fine because some of the kids are constantly distracted and that he has to yell to get them re-focused. I don't know, what do you guys think? BTW, my kid has never mentioned it bothering them because the coach is constantly always praising good moves too.

The coach should not have to yell, since he should be out on the field with them while they play 3 v 3 with pug goals and no goalies.
If the coach is yelling at kids I imagine it is one of these stupid leagues playing 5 v 5 or more on larger fields. If that is the case, find a better league.

It's OK
If the coach is not being mean and the direction helps, sounds OK to me. When I did u-8's and U-9's, I directed a lot. But all players knew that if they told me they didn't need any direction, I stopped. Interestingly enough, most told me, but some seemed to say that direction took the pressure off them. Anyway, they kept coming back. Of the original 12, not due to me, but their own desires, 8 played at least one year in college.

Definitely!
That way when they get older and if they happen to play in the OYSA league they will be use to it from the WST TS, EST and Medford parents on the sidelines.

Most of the directions/instructions/shouting at u6 kids
Has nothing to do with soccer coaching.
*Please (Johnny/Sally) stop hanging from the crossbar.
* Please come back to the field (Johnny/Sally) whilst they sit on mommy & daddy's lap after they score a goal.
* Please stop eating the blackberries and join the rest of us on the field.
*Please don't be distracted by your parents screaming your name every 5 seconds you are on the field. (this one is the shouting that doesn't allow for free play)
* Please only one juice box not 4 for your siblings.
*Please have FUN!
God Bless
