I have seen 15 kids on the roster for a 9v9 game. That makes equalizing PT with competing difficult. They should carry 11-12 to each game, making 45 minutes a reality for each kid.

What is the big deal about the academy style? I think it's great for the bubble players, but that is all.
I have seen a few games now where 5 of the FCP Navy players join the White team (so the White team can get in a win), and leave the full-time white players on the bench. THEN, when the game is over, the Navy players grab their bags and run of to the Navy game.
It looks to me like the Navy players get 2 games in a day, and the white players get to say, "Hey, we won! Too bad I barely played."
That doesn't sound like such an awesome deal to me.

This is how it should be run academy style:
9v9 = 11 players on both the A & B roster
- Practice those 22 players together every time, but run certain drills only A or B (hey those kids did earn their spot)
- Bring up 1 to 2 girls that are deserving to get minutes with the A team to gauge development - playing time slightly less
- Drop 1 or 2 bubble players to the B team to get meaningful minutes in positions they are not exposed to - playing time slightly more
Clarification is 1 player move if there is a full roster available, 2 if missing 1, etc...don't bring 4 girls to make the bench look like 15.

Same thing happens at our club with the U12 girls teams. Every game they can, about 5 A-team players play with the B-team. Score a bunch of goals and get wins for the B team. Great for the A players to get 2 games in but bum deal for the B team players. Our club only really cares about developing the A players. Wouldn't mind as much if the B players weren't paying the same $ to develop our kids.

They don't develop players, they don't care about the individual players (how many times has the coach actually had a meaningful conversation with your player there?), and their rhetoric about earning your spot on the A team week to week is a load of BS and a façade for justifying their end goal to win games. It's absolutely disgusting what they are doing to the kids, but what's more disgusting is that the parents buy into the marketing BS and can't think for themselves. Do you really think that your kid is going to try out with her teammates for a D1 or D2 program? Absolutely not! Having played D1 myself, I know this not to be true. Think for yourself, go where the coach cares, go where the training is top notch (where the training is not all tactical but balanced with technical), and go where your kid is happy and loving the game.

This is funny!! I just checked out the U12G first division rankings, and guess who's on top? Good old FCP White! It looks like their are stacking their White B team so they can move up a division for next year. Apparently FCP doesn't think their white team can do it on their own.

With your logic every top B team must be using A team players to win, including your club.

There are rules against this in RCL (You can play players up, but not down) ... looks like OPL and OYSA should take a look at the same thing in order to protect those 'B' team players from getting benched. The message this is sending to those players is pretty sad ... mainly that they aren't good enough to win those games on their own.
In all honesty, the coach should know better ... shame on him if he is doing this just to win games. As a 'B' team coach myself, I would flatly refuse to roster these 'A' team players if they weren't needed for numbers. If they were needed, they would be role players exclusively, not start, and likely play in positions they are least comfortable in (the best way to further their personal development).

Saw this exact same thing happen this weekend

FC brought down 2-3 of their ECNL girls to play with the FC Navy team. One of their ECNL girls scored the goal and they won.
I asked my daughter about this and she said "Whatever, if that's the way they feel that they have to beat us, then that's what they will do."
Just frustrating that they do bring their better girls down, or their "A" girls down, to help the weaker teams, just for sake of a win or the victory. That's their Academy system or style. Just seems like a cheap way to get that victory.
Oh well....
