Welp, all predictions for West Salem were wrong! Sounds like the West Salem and North Medford game was intense.

If those two teams played ten times West Salem would win eight of them. It just wasn't their day. North Medford is a solid team though and should give it a good go in the championship game.

If so it was a disappointing Championship. This is the second time I've seen Sunset play this year, do they ever try to play soccer?? They made zero effort to keep control and move the ball on the ground! Tualatin dominated this game and thankfully the shoot out went their way.

Neutral observer here. I thought it was an entertaining game. To the point by the previous poster about trying to play, and why Sunset wasn't, is a little off base. I thought a nice combination led to a penalty call against Tualatin early in the game. In either case yes Tualatin probably possessed the ball better but I would measure the teams tactics overall success in terms of their effectiveness in the attacking third. In tonight's case I would say Tualatin had a slight edge but with all the possession, it did not translate to more chances on goal.
Looking at the game program I can understand why as well. Sunset is very young and it's not easy trying to possess and play through the middle against older players, who are pretty good like in Tualatin' case.
In sum, I think parents need to better understand team tactics, situation etc. Just a thought and an opinion.

North Medford has no strikers if they did they would of won this game. They do a real nice job of spacing the field and building play up from the defense. Once they try to connect to the forwards it would stall. West on the other hand only plays long and can't play out of the back line. In fact under any pressure their defense just kicks the ball out. West appears to have good talent they just play long not saying this isn't effective to some degree. West also does a real nice job on their set plays and that gave them some of their best opportunities to score. If they played ten times they might win 8, but they lost the one that counted. If they want to get to the finals they will have to learn to be a better passing team the long ball works well against most high school teams but any of the ones with defense will remove most chances of scoring. It was a fun game to watch!
