So much more support at high school. To those that complain about their high school, why not work with your school to improve the soccer if you are not happy? Maybe if you had started in your community and worked with your neighbors, you would see the bigger picture.

Get involved!
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostOh my! We can't even get classroom sizes under control much less get a decent coaching program in place for soccer. Free market generally provides a much better product (not always, but usually), school spirit aside. But if your talking school spirit, sure, it's better if that's your main objective. Ra Ra Sis Boom Ba!
The money is great for a 3 1/2 month season so there are no excuses other than the lack of involvement from the parents!
Nearly every Metro League and Three Rivers League team is already coached by a club coach and the quality of soccer is reflective of that club.
If your school does not have a club coach then RECRUIT ONE! I can guarantee you that nearly every HS age club coach would jump at the chance to collect the extra money, coach some of their players and recruit new players to the club.

Parents have the POWER
If your Ad is short changing your soccer program by refusing to hire qualified coaches because he thinks they have to be teachers then you have to organize and work the process. The AD works for the Principal so start there with your request to up grade the position. He may have a policy to have the coaches be teachers which means you then have to go to the superintendent. If you do not get support from the superintendent then you go to the ELECTED school board as a vocal and ORGANIZED group that is requesting an upgrade in the quality of an important educational experience. If it's worth funding and presenting to the community as a school product then it should be the best product possible and they should hire the best person for the job!
Organized groups respectfully making rational arguments to ELECTED officials tend to get results.
If you have a crappy HS coach you only have yourselves to blame!
Signed
Been there done that
