ECNL parents attacking the quality of Academy.

Timbers parents attacking the quality and cost of ECNL.

The Timbers chose not to apply to ECNL because they are targeting a different demographic.

    Both sides have acted immaturity.

Did you look in the mirror as you typed that?

You sound like the perfect recruit for the Thorns junior academy, whatever that is.

please find a current college coach to tell us not to do ECNL

Yes we admit its not a guarantee and yes we admit the girls who have not done ECNL are getting good offers but I challenge the haters to find a current coach of a D1 or D2 program to tell a girl he has his eye on not to play at this level IF money is not an issue.

Competitive soccer is crazy. Welcome to the fold...... More like $7000
                    Thorns like $5000

For a couple thousand more you get the best possible league in the USA.

I have to wander if money is an issue, what the hell are you doing playing at any competitive level where travel is a must.

Soccer is for the privileged, thorns or otherwise. Not saying it's right but it is what it is.

It really comes down to what your DD's skill set is and how competitive she is. If she has the tools and the fire in the belley and wants to play at a top program it is worth doing for the last 2 years. If either are missing its a waste of money.

BTW until the Academy came along traveling teams spent $5-6,000 so the difference is not as big when accounting for quality and exposure. If they did ODP you added another grand and still didn't have the breadth of exposure.

Thorns academy will be almost the same, almost. College coaches and national coaches are so stupid compared to the timbers alliance coaches. Thorns all the way! Wake up people!
Not only does the Academy not have a quality league to play in how are coaches going to find them if their only exposure is Vegas and region 4 regionals?

College coaches are going to come watch Portland ECNL teams get pounded 5-0, stretch, yawn and go get coffee at halftime.

And families get jabbed for $8000 to $10,000.00 per year.

If you write the coaches and they are looking to fill your position and they are at the event they will come. Not going to happen playing in the FWRL.

Again, conjecture on the loses. However, that does mean they are playing better competition, versus wining 4 - 0 in the current split league. The 8k is only for the one age group. It's for traveling to play competition, which most teams/clubs aspire to do. If your dd isn't all that or she is happy playing the same skill level from the few teams still in the OPL or OYSA, then ECNL is clearly not for her / you. Pretty simple.

                                Meaningless conjecture and hyperbole.
