You never know with the American market.
One huge hit that soccer takes in the US is ties. What an unsatisfying result. Americans are not wired to accept a tie. Win or loss please. Send it to O/T and PK's if need be.
Does the MLS allow one hyper wealthy owner to go out and buy 5 of the best players in the world? I don't know, but I think the MLS is some weird hybrid league where the league employs they players.
If a hyper wealthy US citizen decided to put up 200 million to buy top talent and roll over the MLS, you would have others step up to spend similarly and then you'd be off and running.
In most markets in the world, other people do things better than they US, but the US eventually prevails with the free market capitalism, love it or hate it.
