And yet they are going to run an ECNL program. And people can't figure out why everyone is so skeptical about ECNL here. By all means, everyone should tryout and come take a spot on a team managed by a club which struggles to get a rec tournament schedule out.
The lineup of teams is quite sad this year. I guess having 3 local tournaments on the same weekend isn't the best idea...
There's even a few Timbers teams signed up from Westside and Eugene. Pretty surprising since there are two other Timbers tournaments that weekend. It looks like they dropped everything above U15 due to lack of teams.

I know Clash is this coming weekend, whats the third one?
Just out of curiosity I compared the two tournaments (because I know plenty of people have wanted to bash the clash the last few years)
THUSC United cup (According to their accepted teams page as of today)
39 girls teams. 15 of those teams are Thusc which accounts for 38% of their females teams. No Washington teams outside of vancouver.
44 Boys teams. 13 of those teams are Thusc which accounts for 29.5% of their male teams. No washington teams outside of vancouver.
83 Total teams. 28 are Thusc teams which account for 33.7% of their tournament teams.
Clash at the Border (according to their current schedules as of today)
108 Girls teams. 17 of those are WT FC teams which account for 15.7%. There are 41 teams outside of Oregon/vancouver attending the girls side which accounts for 38%.
122 boys teams. 25 of those are WT FC teams which accounts for 20.5%. Therea are 40 teams outside of Oregon/Vancouver attending the boys side which accounts for 32.8%.
230 total teams. 42 of those are WT FC which accounts for 18.3%. There are a total of 81 teams from outside of vancouver/oregon which accounts for 35%.

So as crappy as the rash at the border is the THUSC tourney is worse. Woot! Two crappy local tourney's! No wonder clubs travel.

I have followed both tournaments for quite a few years and they actually both surprised me this year. I am shocked to see how far the thusc tournament fell. But surprised how many seattle teams the Clash is attracting. In general what I am looking for in a tournament for summer (outside the big major ones) is a tournament where I can get decent competition, but also I love it when I can play teams I wont see all year long, so all those seattle teams to me makes it more attractive than a similar tournament.

I heard it's closer to 250 teams now... Canadian teams this year I noticed. Not all brackets are great but it seems like most are very solid... But it looks like boys side is stronger. If it is 250 teams that a pretty good size tourney.

Just browsing through the girls gold/platinum brackets...lots of teams, but some of the worst competition I have ever seen. You mention all these Seattle teams, where? I didn't see any Washington Premier, Crossfire, Rush, Harbor, or any really good clubs - with the exception of 2 Seattle United teams...
If I was a U11 or U12 team I would rather set a 6x6 scrimmage in my back yard.

Capital Cup has 183 teams signed up. That's over 500 teams between the three tournaments but THUSC is a very distant third place. They need to either find another weekend or give up on the tournament business.

Well its hard to say which teams are good or not based solely on their club. However, if you use RCL as a baseline for solid clubs there are 38 RCL teams and then 7 teams from outside Oregon and Washington attending. So a toal of 45 of those 81 are in that group. If you look at portland tournaments there surprisingly isn't a lot that have more than that number. Only the really big ones: Lake oswego, mt. hood, maybe beaverton and maybe chinook. Thats all I can think of that might have more.
