Nice try. How's the view of the rolled up turf inside the fence enclosure? Get used to it, they'll be there awhile..

I didn't know that the rolled up turf made the grass fields unplayable like you said.

        $1050 is too cheap
If it was that easy it would have already been done. The best way to look at that problem is the same as when you look at cost of living. For example if you live in L.A. the cost of a meal will be more than it is hear. You could still get the same thing, but its just more down there.

Now relate that to here, on the westside of portland the major clubs all charge around 1400-2000 so thats just the normal, its what parents expect.

In vancouver parents expect around 1000. If you all of a sudden raised the price there might be a few parents willing to do that knowing it would bring in more quality, however, the majority would then go to the rivals who are already charging less.

I have said for a long time if you truly want to fix all these issues you need to get rid of any competing clubs and only have 1 premier club in vancouver. As long as you have clubs trying to compete for the same small player pool that we currently have (and constantly bashing and lying about each other) then it will make it difficult to raise any prices.

Raise the quality and you will be able to raise the prices. Focus should be on that first. If you offer the best then you can charge more. Basic business. Problem is you don't want to approve on product base which is coaches.

Where are the Vantucky people this morning? We are waiting for them to come back on and bash each other. So fun to watch.

Out too late at Auto's with Sunny last night. Probably won't be up until at least noon.

Sadly, I think you are right. I wish they would get up and get back to slamming each other. These are the most entertaining threads on this site.

Perhaps a little reading comprehension might be in order. Where in my post do I claim the fields were "unplayable"?

Assuming this is a response from someone with the club the next question is what did you ask them?

Did you ask them what if any money would they be willing to spend for capital projects? Did you ask them to prioritize turf vs. lights? Did you ask them what number they could support per month to accomplish one or both? ($20, $30, $40)

                        Tax Deductible?

Since the installation of turf and lights are capital improvement projects I think the funds raised to accomplish those improvements are tax deductible donations assuming that VT is a qualified nonprofit.

Curious why you care so much to get answers on this if you are not a club member? Why don't you worry about your own club survey, or lack thereof. Just bizarre.

Isn't a non-profit tax exempt? Are you talking about the people who donate any funds, they can take those off their taxes as a donation, the same way if you donate to a college or a charitable foundation?

                              It's called a community for a reason

I care because they have an opportunity to contribute more to the local soccer community.

If I had your attitude nobody without kids should be helping eh?

The point is they owe it to their customers and the entire metro soccer community to up their game and take advantage of the opportunity they have.

It's the same thing when you see a talented player waste their skills.

Everybody should be pulling for every club to up their game because it will benefit the entire region.

The point is that even if the money is contributed on a monthly basis it can qualify for a deduction if it is identified as a "contribution" and not part of the regular dues/fees.

For some of the families this would make a difference.
