90% of talent is in oysa. The rest will be there next year once the snake oil salesman pitches turn out to be a joke. Just think, you can pay college tuition and get a spot on a broke Ecnl team or if you are good enough you can try out for a oysa team.

But we all know how bad opl players are in this age group so I realize why they are paying the money for a pipe dream

Keep telling yourself that. Doesn't change the fact that OYSA is third rate at best...

Well at high school ages, there are barely any girls teams. At U14 / 00' thread has posted some results although it's hard to tell as it was not named 'ECNL' it was labled 'navy' for the FCP U14 ECNL team. It surely wasn't the same team playing last fall in either case. It would appear looking at common good opponents (Crossfire, WPFC ECNL) played by OYSA and OPL teams that the newly created ECNL team is better then their OYSA counter parts or at least as good. At younger ages, the opl looks very sold as well with outliers in the OYSA.

I know you are just arguing for arguings sake. But I'm not sure your comments hold any water.

Oh yes, the great Onyx showed how ECNL is going to go for them. So much for being competitive in ECNL. And this is after playing for months. It's not like Thanksgiving Surf where Oregon and Washington teams have had maybe a week or two to practice.

Surf Cup is exactly why Onyx is looking forward to ECNL. Won 1 and lost 2, 2 losses were by only 1 goal. First game we didn't play well and 2 game was to DeAnza maybe one of the better teams in ECNL. I would say that we were competitive. BTW had more than 60 college coaches at our games

It's always heartening so see the "I got mine" attitude on display. I know it never occurs to them that there are other kids who might benefit from a "better" program. In their minds youth soccer in Oregon comes to an end when they age out.

Now I might have been trolled so congrats if that was your goal.

Thanks. That was my goal. But seriously, I think it makes sense to choose the program (ECNL, Academy, discovery on out of state ECNL, local) based upon what your goal for college is and where you stand in that process. I'm not saying college is the only criteria, but that it makes sense to include it. If top tier program is your goal, and you have the ability, then ECNL makes sense. If your goal is local, smaller school then Academy makes more sense. If you don't really care about college but still want to play, then local league.

If only everyone could be so rational. The ECNL haters begrudge everyone the opportunity regardless of the players goals and refuse to acknowledge any benefit.

I believe you are better suited to play at your level. If you are a top talented player with no intention to play in college, what fun is it scoring 5 goals per game on a level 3 rec team.

I didn't say college is the only criteria. But ECNL is sure a costly adventure if you have no intention of doing it for any other reason than competition. But hey, I know a lot of people who throw money away buying all sorts of aftermarket assessories for their vehicles and they add no value and no functionality, but they "look neat". Those people are usually making the minimum credit card payment.
