Even more reason why non TA clubs should question why OYSA fees would go to subsidize the Thorns academy. Why should they pay for a program that is not available to their players?

The Timbers always post a list of the players who make their teams. It's not odd at all. And you think all top players can pay for ECNL? I know a number who don't have the funds but are good players. There are also a number of players who are good players who are highly skeptical of the quality of the ECNL teams.

With over 85 people trying out, it's likely that players are coming from a number of different teams. That they are coming from THUSC, OC and FC is highly likely. You do realize that some FC players tried out at CU for their ECNL team, and vice versa?

I would imagine over time that the Academy will have the best coaching staff. If you are local and you want to make a living being a coach in the long run you will want to associate with the professional club.

For the amount of $$ a youth coach would command I doubt it would be career choice. There's not a path forward. More likely a coach will work a 'real' job and has coaching as their second job.
