They have never seen an ECNL event

How does adding just 2 teams in an area that had 0 "water down" ECNL? If anything, it adds a few more top players to the league.

I just love all the "knowledge" that gets posted here by people who have NEVER been to an ECNL showcase or playoff. We can post the ECNL results from Surf or the other national showcases proving the ECNL dominance and they still try to disparage what is obvious to anyone who has participated knows.

There are good ECNL teams there are bad ECNL teams and there are great ECNL teams. The difference however between the ECNL and any OTHER league is that you will find ALL three in EVERY region!

I also have to ask so what if there are a few teams that are not dominate? Does that diminish the value of the balance of the league or showcases? Find another league outside So Cal that provides half the level of competition before saying dumb things like it's getting watered down.....

ECNL is getting really watered down so the exposure will be less concentrated. But on the bright side, better chance of getting victories!

No need to defend ECNL. It's simply the best option if you can afford it. If you can't afford it, then maybe the Thorns Academy is best for the one age group. For all the rest, stay at your club.

When you say bad, you really mean it. There are some very poor ECNL teams out there. Teams that get beaten 7-0 or so by other ECNL teams and good non-ECNL teams. And they get beaten 3-0 by mid-level non-ECNL teams.

Sadly because you have not see those "bad" ECNL teams in action you don't know anything other that the posted results of when they play the great ECNL teams. I wonder how the Academy will fair against them? You think Idaho is the weak sister but you really have no way to know how they stack up against non ECNL teams so it's easy to say they suck.

Using your logic I can say the Academy will suck based upon the projected core's performance in the Surf Super group and ODP.

I wonder if the parents of the WST/TS U16's understand that there is no way for the Timbers to keep more than 8 of the team? There are going to be 20 quality U16 players from outside fighting for those roster spots and the Timbers HAVE to put a number of 15's on that team too.

Those player changes along with a new coach is going to change how the team plays the game and the chemistry and player familiarity that has been the hallmark of the teams will be GONE!

It has a range of course but the mean is higher than other leagues.
