    Any info?

No. Lots of discussions regarding if the team should or shouldn't travel together. You know, really important stuff.

Gotta love that. Nothing like a bunch of soccer parents to ruin a perfectly good meeting. Let me guess, did they also ask "are the girls going to travel in their team sweatsuits or just regular clothes?"

No. But I'm sure it was on the tip of the tongues of some parents. Oh yeah, ECNL is going to be a huge success here. We are worried about the real important stuff.

One parent told me that the information provided showed they paid $4000 this year for club ball and next year will be $8100 at U17, plus incidentals and parent travel.

This parent was confused over an issue that really wasn't made clear.

They said they plan to take 24 girls into each age group pool, but only 18 would travel to tourneys. The other 6 girls would stay home. They wouldst be relegated down to the "reserves" as that would be unfair to those playing on that team (thus pushing 6 girls out if there wasn't a "B" team below the reserves), but they also wouldn't be paying the travel expense to that tourney.

So, if your player is #19-24 in the pool of talent, your player would "probably" attend most regional league games, NWCL and maybe some of the lesser tourneys, but during the weekends when the top 18 were at Disney, Surf, Dallas, your DD would be sitting at home getting NO exposure.

So, if your in that bottom 6, your future is uncertain, but your paying the same training/kit/leagues fees as the rest. If your in the "reserves" as they called it, you might be called up to train, but wouldnt be called up to play in games.

ECNL does not require 12 month participation, so HS season is still on and if your a dual sport player there will be a minimum attendance required (well see how well that is enforced for a top 6 player).

These were the highlights that effected their player the most. Some other discussions took place regarding number of girls per room, parent chaperons and top player scholarships (not necessarily the players that need the financial help).

            Was this FCP or THUSC?

If we could just have them drop off their girls and lay low we'd be much better off.

A parent actually asked about ECNL t-shirts for parents. Really? It was a little disturbing.

For $8,000 a year what is an extra $20 for a "supporters" t-shirt. What is really disturbing is that they didn't ask for a scarf. Now, if you are a real supporter you would want a scarf.

Just a bunch of posers, really.

Are there really 48 families (2 teams with 24 pool players) in Oregon that can/will afford $8100 +/- per year ?? And if there are, are they the ones with very best players ? If not, there will be some seriously disappointed families out there.

Well, we are about to find out. I would say that there are definitely 18 per age group for one team. Wish this wasn't the case, but there is just not enough talent to go 2 teams deep.

The first year is going to blow for most of these new ECNL teams. If you are outside the top 11-12 field players on either team it is going to be a long year.

What's your problem? Not only have the kids worked hard, but the parents have worked hard to get them to this level too. The parents deserve a little recognition. I don't think it was a bad question at all. We might have to put something together as a parent group.

How about a t-shirt which reads, "My daughter is an ECNL player...and all I got was this lousy t-shirt"?

If one or two of the teams from the same club bomb hard this year, it could mean the end for that club in forming teams in the future. If there were 100 girls all scampering for those 48 spots Id have a much better hope for the program in Oregon, but I just don't think it will happen.

Oh I'm not saying there aren't 48 families that can and will afford the opportunity, but the team results may not be what some are expecting from the investment. Without good team results, the college coach/recruiters will not be lining up to watch their players.

At that point, you as a parent can only hope that your player is I.D. for the PDP program in ECNL and does it all on her own.

I'm sorry if your daughter didn't make it. I think it's perfectly reasonable for parents to want a little recognition.
