Sorry Thorns supporters that is a invalid comparison. Membership in the FWRL is not hard to get. Neither is putting together a projected schedule and the associated costs. You have had nearly 12 months since bringing up the subject of the Academy.

If the timbers/Thorns were committed to girls soccer they would have provided the details long ago.

Because he's concerned it will take top players away from his ECNL club. I would be too. Otherwise he wouldn't say a thing.

The concern is more that the "promise" of a Thorns Academy may tempt some top players to not do ECNL this year. If the Academy doesn't happen this summer then it's dead in the water. If it does happen and doesn't live up to all the great expectations (better competition than ECNL, very low costs, superior training and coaching) then it's dead in the water. So, 90+% chance it's dead in the water.

Yeah, agreed. If there really will be a Thorns Academy, they missed their window of opportunity to promote and sell it. Or if it was just a pipe dream, the Timbers intentionally misled many, many people.
