I've heard rumors that OSU soccer has experienced some sort of meltdown and player revolt against the head coach. Legal issues, in-fighting, etc. Can anyone shed some light on what's happening in Corvallis?

Huh? Isn't he responsible for who was there? Mens team let guys go too. Maybe the AD should be looking at the coaches instead of letting the players get dropped.

They weren't dismissed. They all quit. About 7 of them. Team meltdown.Their spring season had to be cancelled. I know this bc I know a parent of one of the women that quit.

It wasn't a bit large. The seniors leaving and graduating were rather larger than normal, about 9, plus others injured and not coming back.

I heard there were some off the field issues that involved inappropriate conduct by players and visiting recruits as well as issues between older players and the coach. This seems like a pretty significant issue for there to not be much in the way of news. Sounds like it might be time for a coaching change. Attitude reflects leadership.

MY DD is on the team and is a graduating senior. She has related some information to me about the team and coaches from her viewpoint. Many seniors are graduating and this will leave a hole in the team but offer those that have not received a lot of playing time to get much more. Knowing this, the coaching staff has brought in a larger than normal class for the fall. Some players have been dismissed due to playing ability, attitude and probable minimal playing time in the future. A few of those have transferred. A couple have decided to quit playing soccer at all to concentrate their time on studies at OSU. Some have lingering injuries that have not responded well to physical treatment and dedication to recover by players. All of those in the program have known for several years that the day would come when 9 players would be leaving. Most of which played a good amount of time.

The coaching staff did clash with some seniors over coaching decisions. More than anything, they wanted to win games as players. Some changes could have been made in player situations last year, but the coaching staff gave these players time to mature their attitudes and improve playing skills. With some, it just didn't happen. They were a distraction. The remaining players fully support the coaches and the program. There is no call or need for coaching changes. All of these things happened months ago and is now here from person to rumor to rumor. They program, players and coaches are just fine.

This is one of the great injustices on the current NCAA scholarship process. If yu get injured there is no guarantee that your scholarship will be renewed.

IMHO if the player commits to 4 years so should the schools. The NCAA need to add career ending injury scholarships to the categories.

These are the types of inequities that are going to force the large school players to unionize!

my dad died when I was 6....missed out in a second income for majority of my child life...you're right....the united states should have an added "if a dad dies your family gets money fund"....

the world is a mean and nasty place, the last thing we need to do is create a "special" environment for kids. Look at our elementary schools these days...there are no winners or losers and they create tests based on not "hurting feelings" *** has this world come to?

Thank you. I was skeptical about this thread since nothing was widely reported. It was amazing how quickly some posters were calling for a coaching change without facts.

Sounds like run of the mill collegiate activities. Nothing more to see here folks. Time to move on.
