I don't really care about ECNL one way or the other, I would just like to point out that it is in Top Drawer's best interest to make a big deal about ECNL and recruiting, because they are a recruiting site and they need content, like ECNL events. So I would take anything they have to say with a grain of salt.

    Carry on...

And yes I've spoken to coaches about it. Sorry if the truth hurts.

And coaches can't evaluate players at blowouts. They have told me they need to see evenly matched games to see how a player reacts to situations. Being outmanned does nothing for them. So pdx vs some of the low ECNL teams will give a proper venue for them. Pdx vs established teams will give them nothing to evaluate. Tell me which age group here in pdx is going to be decent next year?
IDK the 15's but the CU 16-18's will be very competitive based upon the two clubs teams results at Vegas & Surf over the past two years. I also DK if all the players can afford ECNL but if they do the combined teams will not be the victims of blow out games.

So why not STFU and wait and see who actually tries out at both clubs?

Whatever they can't cover is up to the parents. Sorry to break the news, but this is pretty standard.
Yes most of us already know this, thanks anyway.

You lost all credibility with that post. What u18 girl is going to do this? Good luck fielding a team of 7-8 decent players much less finding 35-40 for the two teams.

And u17 won't be good unless they grab the players from WT and VT whose teams are far better then anything CU and FC has. FC should grab VT in its entirety and supplement it with a few of their players. And CU should do the same with with WT. Then they might be competitive.

U16 will have one team and one team of scraps.

U18 girls do this across the country every year.

You are just fear mongering. You are trying to pollute this forum with BS to dissuade people from trying out for and participating in the ECNL. You have a motive and it is not productive and typical for the Timbers and TA. You are the ONLY ones who are motivated to tear down the ECNL.

At the end of the day, most people are smarter than that and they see through your lies and BS.

I just watched the u16 WT during semi's. This team use to be very good but what has happended. Injuries? Coaching? Not very impressive at all since I last saw them a year ago.

What was the score, 8-0? Sorry they didn't live up to expectations. You would think they would get up more when playing a crummy team. Winning FWRL must have been a fluke. Maybe you should watch multiple games rather than basing some opinion on one game.

Oh, so you can compare across the country to Portland? Nice try. Most of the time we have combined U17/U18 age group in league. And not just this year with the split but even when their is one league. If you are this clueless about this fact then you really have zero credibility. The true number of U18s locally still playing is very small. But in your world their will magically appear 40 top players able to compete with what the other regions can throw out there. It's not going to be pretty I can tell you.

What league did your team win? OPL? Now that's a laugher. Oh wait you played in The watered down NWCL and won one tied one and lost the rest.

Can you pick winning lottery numbers too?

Well since we have NEVER had the opportunity to have 18's play at this level why would you think it would be the same as playing our watered down leagues? Talk about an apples to grapes grapes comparison.

Additionally, 18's only need 18 players AND 4 can be discovery players so each club only needs to have 14 full time rostered players. I think there are 28 players in the area who will see the value of ECNL level competition.

Even for those players who are committed they get to work on their game thus improving the chances that they get playing time AND succeed at the next level.....oh wait you think they can/won't improve playing ECNL....oh neva mind.

We don't care much about league! Outside Oregon is what counts. But if you want to talk about FWRL kind of looked like you struggled against some of the slightly above average teams.

According to this thread no one is better than above average and everyone in Oregon stinks. ECNL will force you to mortgage your home and live off rice and beans. Did I get it right?
