    If the rumor is true then the Timbers are in for a surprise as most will head to BSC. This is a business and if you don't offer a good product at decent price you will not survive. Time for the GM to clean house because for Timbers to survive If rumors are true. No more Timbers monopoly in Vancouver.

      BSC= Bridlemile?

      No disrespect, but how would that threaten anything and/or anyone? BSC + FCSC?

        Saw what? I honestly can't see any way this is a good option for anyone? And it would likely help the timbers. If I were w Wa timbers I would love for a bsc fcsc merger.

              Living in Vantucky it would be nice to see another club come in. It would only be good though if new coaches come in too. Otherwise your paying for same stuff just in a different wrapper. Does anyone know if this rumor is true or not?

                  Careful what you wish for. W-T-F-C should serve as a caution on merging, a roadmap of what not to do.

                    Ugh... I hope BSC doesn't merge with any Vantucky teams. When my dd's team plays BSC, BSC attempts to play soccer, not boot ball, intentional fouling, diving, bitching to the refs....

                    Merge with any vantucky club and the crap will seep in, slowly but surely.

                      Interesting. When my DD's Vantucky team plays bsc we win 10-0, it's friendly, but we all wish we could leave by halftime. Your DD's team must be pretty bad.

                        That attitude is what is wrong with Vantucky soccer. BSC has one of the most qualified DOC's and coaching staffs in the area and the parents of Salmon Creek should be GRATFUL to have access to that knowledge. Game results are not what you should be focusing on when at the younger ages physicality determines who wins more than the attempted skills. What you should be looking at is what skills BSC grads demonstrate at the older ages.

                        Focusing on the results of the games overlooks the skill development that happens with kids who get PROFESSIONAL coaching (see BSC coaching licenses).

                        It's true that BSC has not been able to retain their better players in the past but that is not a reflection of the development of the players. With a BSC merger Vantucky parents would see ST's touch on their program and the Vantucky Timbers would have serious competition overnight!

                          Different strokes for different folks. There is nothing inherently wrong with focusing on winning at the young ages. Most of these kids won't even be playing by U15 anyways so why not let them have some fun and win some trophies while they're young? As long as they don't try to sell the program as a "development" program all is good. Of course, it's harder to get the high fees if you actually admit that you're not really teaching the kids anything and are just aggregating talent to get wins...

                            the quote above is exactly what is wrong with soccer in the PDX area. Please tell me you are kidding.

                              As seen on the sidelines all across the country

                              We see this attitude on the sidelines of ALL sports in this country. Here in PDX & Vantucky the parents confuse wins with development every weekend. This is why several large clubs ACCEPT mediocre DOC's and the resulting ineffective coaching because they produce "wins".

                              The result is that DOC's play to the parents expectations to keep the $'s flowing and in the process we retard the "development" of too many players and end up with the soccer reputation that we have.....BACK WATER!

                              The failure to develop a players skills is ALSO responsible for too many players dropping out as they are not stoooopid and can see what the coach is trying to do at THEIR expense.

                                Good skills usually leads to more wins. Winning and skill development do go hand in hand, generally. Many clubs and coaches spin losses as 'we are developing' better than the other teams. Every now and then that could be true. But generally it's an excuse.
