When the Timbers created the DA it was done in a league neutral way.
It is funny because now the ECNL is claiming that OYSA conspired against them.Originally posted by Unregistered View PostDoesn't really matter does it? The ECNL opportunity is there for all. Originally posted by Unregistered View PostNot really. We will see how the ECNL turns out. The point is how the Timbers responded. The Timbers are not for advancing youth soccer. They are partial and they are really just about controlling and profiting from youth soccer.
Thank you for revealing the point of this thread and so many recent ECNL threads. You come on here all self-righteous about how "the TA" hasn't done anything for youth soccer. The shoe is put on the other foot, and fingers are pointed at OPL and ECNL and suddenly it doesn't matter, things will happen regardless.
This string is little more than an attempt to cast eyes away from the fact that stage 1 of ECNL was nowhere near what was promised...it is an attempt to blame the TA where they are blameless, it is really no more than denial that the product presented was not what was promised. It is sad because this witchhunt is preventing the ECNL clubs from fixing what they need to so that stage 2 doesn't fail the same as stage 1. If they fail in that stage, then surely they will have troubles.

These clubs have a sense of entitlement, that anything they put forward should be embraced by everyone and if it is not all sorts of venom flows.
For the good of Oregon Girls I would like to see ECNL succeed, I not sure if it can with the particular personalities involved

All of the blame TA, Blame OYSA, Blame someone else is BS. These clubs did very little market research, they created their model, and then they expect everyone to come running. Further if someone doesn't come running they see it as a conspiracy against the betterment of youth soccer.

It is clear that other clubs are worried about the ECNL. The tryout situation was difficult for both clubs considering there was about a week between tryouts and when their acceptance was officially announced. No one can expect that to turn out well. HS tryouts will be the most telling.
Preliminary reports are that tryouts at THUSC and FC Portland were much higher this year. There was a migration of players. Primarily away from WST and TS. To be honest, this isn't much of a surprise considering who runs those WST.

I think the simple answer to the OP's original question is "nothing". The TA has done nothing and will continue to do nothing except siphon more and more money out of youth soccer and into the pocket books of the Timbers.
