What is TA actually doing for youth soccer

First they re-split the league, then do pretty much nothing but talk, and now try their very best to rip apart ECNL. What exactly have TA done to advance youth soccer in Oregon. ECNL whether you want to complain about cost or whatever, is advancing youth soccer. Even though you can argue that it is not connected to OPL, the clubs that went after and worked hard to get the bid are OPL clubs. I find TA/OYSA just tearing down and not building up anything. Sad, sad, sad.

Rip apart ECNL? How? The academy is been being pushed for a number of years. They finally got the boys one a couple of years ago and, as planned, are coming forward with a girls one a couple years later. It's just coincidence that ECNL finally got around to inviting Portland into the league. Actually, it's more of a case of Portland finally put forward a decent application after a number of tries.

Well...they (TA) sure design and outfit a better looking player. Some of these rasgs these morons wear at this years state cup were ridiculous.

It's funny how the OPL crowd is doing everything they can to cast out lies so they can discredit OYSA. ECNL will succeed or not based upon the product that the Portland ECNL clubs put out, not based upon any actions from OYSA. If the Timbers academy is able to destroy ECNL in Portland by attracting more players, then maybe the OPL teams should have suppported the academy rather than bidding on ECNL. Parents and players are going to select the best product.

Correct. That's why OPL is fading, fading, fading. The real question is how long before it folds. My guess is 12 months.

No ones concerned about OYSA destroying ECNL, because you cant. ECk tNL is here to stay. I think The original post was about what OYSA/TA are actually doing to better youth soccer.
It appears from the response that the answer is not much.

Your last guess was by the end of spring. As long as Timbers are running the other league, the OPL will be around providing an alternative.

well for one, they [TA] have finally stepped up and are bringing small sided games to the masses. I hear the OPL is following suit.

While I do not agree with what the Timbers are doing in general, the shift to small sided soccer is a good move.

How do you know that the OPL hadn't planned that before Timbers but didn't announce it first (like the Thorns Academy announcement)? :)

Not really. We will see how the ECNL turns out. The point is how the Timbers responded. The Timbers are not for advancing youth soccer. They are partial and they are really just about controlling and profiting from youth soccer.

We owe OPL and their cast of clowns for this. They did everything they could to cast ECNL as a OYSA/OPL decision. They painted the lines that meant one side or the other would have to lose. When you do this, you force folks to be opposed.

When the Timbers created the DA it was done in a league neutral way.

It is funny because now the ECNL is claiming that OYSA conspired against them.
