So you support the bully and the shrinkage of opportunity then?

I find the Timbers position to be indirect conflict with the OYSA mission of EXPANDIND soccer in the state.

It's time to attend the next OYSA board meeting and voice your concern about how the Timbers are holding back competitive soccer in the region!

The only smidgeon of truth in your statement is related to the trumped up charges that the Timbers talked down ECNL and thus caused its failure…

This is a ridiculous charge, because all along the ECNL clubs were positioning this as direct competition to the Timbers.

Hopefully even you will recognize that when we end upon competition we are supposed to compete…

Other than that there has been much more substantive progress at expanding opportunities for soccer provided by the Timbers/OYSA, then their has by OPL. A team traveling to Germany to play in a Bayern Tournament is just the tip of the iceberg. There is also the implementation of small sided play at younger ages and other great changes.

Now I get it you are a one-trick type person, and your only vision is connected to ECNL. You ought to open your eyes a little more...

10 kids going on a soccer tour is hardly expanding opportunities for the state. It was great that they got to go, and that they did well, but so what? How did that advance soccer opportunities? It didn't. It just provided those kids with a great experience.

Direct competition with the Timbers/OYSA ha ha ha ha, there is no comp there, ECNL is by far way beyond anything Timbers/OYSA is going to do. Small sided, meh, both leagues implemented that as they should. Tip of the iceberg, ten kids to Germany??? Yeah that greatly expands youth soccer in Oregon. Timbers/OYSA is having a hard time just keeping up with OPL. Give it a rest. TA lemming, all you're organization does is try and tear down the others, but it's not working and your getting left behind.

A mythical Thorn's academy, or paying through the nose to play on one of two crummy ECNL teams. Doesn't sound like good choices to me.

OPL/NWCL/ECNL are all excellent choices. Kudos to those who would improve and expand Oregon soccer. Now all we need is TA to rejoin OPL and Oregon youth soccer will be going strong.

It's pure gold compared to OYSA/TA

We need the OPL leadership and the OYSA leadership to put away the boxing gloves and compromise. It's not that hard.

Teams were going abroad BEFORE the Timbers Take over of OYSA Competitive soccer.

I was not and am not a fan of the split so don't even try to go there with me. However actively working against the ECNL and their clubs is a clear violation of the OYSA mission statement of expanding soccer and opportunities in the State.

This should NEVER be an us vs. them situation. The fact that you or any TA supporter thinks the kids win that way is just as bad as the OPC thinking they represent soccer for the entire state.

It's time for the ADULTS in the room to do what is best for out SMALL slice of the American youth soccer world.

OYSA/TA were never the ones who created the us vs them mentality…That came directly from OPC and the folks on their ECNL adventure.

I dont believe anyone actively worked against ECNL, but the expectation from the ECNL folks seems to have been that the whole state would endorse what was happening with ECNL as something paramount to a second coming…

There were some people who didn't see it as such and they spoke out, this is the beauty of having free choice in the market place, it is not some treasonous act.

I am also skeptical of the altruistic motivation people see these ECNL clubs having. They say they were doing it to expand opportunities for soccer, what about the boys, or the folks who can't afford it? They were doing it to grab a lucrative niche in the Oregon soccer space. It is up to them to succeed or fail, but give up on the expanding opportunity stuff...

i would prefer that they put on actual boxing gloves and settle it that way. best of three, loser DOCS and their clubs no longer exist.

This is an outright lie. The Timbers caused this rift and certain TA clubs have fed it.
