For Oregon to have a chance, loyalty must be thrown out the window

The best thing for any of the ECNL coaches to do is to tell every girl on the existing teams that they are trying out for a completely new team, that they should not expect any favors from being in the existing club and that every kid starts the tryouts from zero. If they do that, then they have a decent chance of getting more of the top girls, but of course that will be split between two teams. But then they will have to make sure they can get chemistry if they choose a lot of new players. And by looking at the landscape of teams at the three clubs, these teams need a number of quality players to be relevant in the conference, much less nationally. Should be a fun first year for these teams.

You mean that just because I am a THUSC parent and my DD has been with the club since PDP, she might not be guaranteed a spot? Everything I've heard is that existing team players who want to play will be given a spot.

You do realize how dumb that would be for either club. I got news for anyone who thinks TA is going to select the team based on anything but quality: He is THE most competitive coach in the area and he will not take a player unless they deserve to be the team. Anyone who knows him understands he could not stand to hear the comments of other US Club coaches questioning why this or that player was on his team. He takes pride in the accomplishments of his team and he will not sacrifice for "loyalty".

Similarly I have every confidence that FC will put their best 20 players on the rosters. they have their club reputation and quite possible their very existence riding on getting this right so look for a very professional approach to building the rosters at the HA age teams.

Think long and hard and ask yourself the question "Does our current club show any loyalty to its members?" I think you'll find that the answer is NO. Be loyal to your DD and do what's best for her, not for any particular club.

If you're asking me the question then the answer is yes. He shows her a lot of loyalty but then again, she's a good player and will make either of the ECNL teams if that's the direction we go.

I agree! This is why TA/xfire coaches only took 15 for the initial roster when they first announced at meetings that there would be 18-24 spots. They weren't satisfied with the turnout and I'm sure expect to pickup more. They left it open for more quality players to join so if you're DD is one of them, its not too late yet. :)

Well TA is the best coach in Oregon, by far. We feel honored just to be in the club where he coaches.

What? The turnout wasn't great? Don't tell anyone that because everyone thinks all the girls are going to gravitate over. So if they didn't get all of the top players, what does that say for the competitiveness of this team? Doesn't sound too promising.

So, you're saying they were satisfied with the turnout? Who's the idiot?

So only 15 came to the turnout is what you are saying.

Wait, I am confused. I thought "all of the girls players will move to OPL" as soon as there is an ECNL team in Oregon. Weird. Apparently that did not happen. Go figure.

                            No, 30 or so.

If true, you have just scared the bejeebers out of the existing players at the ECNL clubs. They all think they have guaranteed spots if they want to play. Don't tell them that their starting spots, much less their spot on the team, is in jeapordy.
