Trying to read between the lines it appears the turnout for ECNL tryouts was way low…Both CU and FC seem to have put all their markers on this gamble.

If ECNL falls apart what will it mean for these clubs.

Can they get by until the Fall tryouts for the olders?

I think some are waiting a year to see how this shakes out. It has been also speculated if there are 40 families at every age group that can and will afford the costs.

70 for the age group is fine. But you see that at most clubs if not more at the bigger clubs. The question is how many ECNL quality players showed.

Try-outs for U14 in Oregon are going to be lower the first year. That being said, there was still plenty of girls at both try-outs to build very competitive teams. ECNL try-outs for the older age groups are going to yield many more players. these are the girls who are already in Highschool and looking to play in college.

Both CU and FC are going to be stronger than ever. These are already the strongest girls clubs in Oregon and they will be much larger one year form now. These 2 clubs are also the best financed and have the most available funds.

As for the TA clubs, at least on the girls side..................OUCH!!!! Many girls form TA clubs will be flocking to ECNL clubs once they realize that the Thorn's Academy will never materialize. MAny are already disgruntled and yes, there were TA girls at the U14 try-outs.

I suspect even more TA girls wil show up at the older age groups as most of the TA clubs don't even have girls teams at the older age groups. Idf they so, they are absolutely horrible.

News flash

Here's a thought for the person writing the obituary for the patient who has not even checked into the hospital.

First there are going to be additions to the U14 teams all summer as many parents of the better players all up and down the Valley will wait to see what the teams look like and the REAL information on costs filters out.

Second the U14 age group is not the measure of success of the programs. You would look smart to hold your judgment until after the formation of the 15's-17's before flapping yer gums.

That will give both clubs time to solidify their corporate support and refine costs and build scholarship reserves AND most importantly over come the negativity shoveled out by people like YOU!
