Crossfire United will be able to put the physical talent on the pitch but the question is can they be coached to play faster and smarter! In ECNL you get two maaaaaybe 3 touches before you are taken on by a very skilled and aggressive defender. To be successful PDX teams will need to move the ball with quick and ACCURATE passes and be smart enough to make passes/runs to space to get any shots on goal.

I'm seriously concerned that FC can find 13 field players for each team with enough speed to be competitive. They currently don't have a team that I am familiar with enough team speed to compete.

Bottom line either both clubs get faster or they will look like cows in a horse race!
Stop it please... Try outs for these teams are open to everyone. These teams will be comprised of the best players from multiple clubs. How does referring to an existing club give you any idea of what the teams are going to be like..... it doesn't.

I have watched most of the announced coaches teams play for many years and none of them have developed a team that plays with the requisite speed. Even TA's best teams did not play fast enough front to back....close but not in the top half of what they will see in the ECNL.

Isn't that the point?! If you are going to learn to dance, you are going to step on some toes. Local teams need to consolidate (ECNL) and go battle. They will get crushed, and they will learn. Every one want another medal on their daughters bedpost right away. ECNL is going to take blood, sweat and tears. But you don't know unless you get out of your chair and give it a shot.

        It will be fine. Relax.

Go age by age and you will see they are right there with the top oregon clubs.
Name 1 WA Timber team that has one anything and please don't tell me some U13 team that won Clash at the Border

Howsa about you use your small brain and research it yourself. Go age group by age group and compare to your club and overall you lose.

              Okay I will play along.
U14 - Timbers Red has not even placed in their last 4 events. They aren't even the best team in SW Washington

U15 - this team did win the Clash of the Border, but not good enough to play in the Premier bracket at Mustang so they walk away with the trophy for the B teams.

U16 - another Clash of the border winner. Nice job with November nights, one of the Premier tournaments on the west coast. Wasn't this the team that finished behind a u15 team in league play?

              U17 - won nothing

U18 - 1st place in the Thorns Winter OYSA League (that is a REALLY nice showing), but they were a finalist in the Nike Oswego Cup.

Way to go Timbers! Way to make your parents proud

Oops! You conveniently forgot u10, u11, u12 which points to the future. And, oh my, pi$$ poor effort in looking at the others. How did they finish in league play? Did they compete in rcl (hint: better than Oregon)? And then be truthful with yourself. It's better than your club. You are a waste of time. I would collect the data for you but I got $ hit to do.

This is funny! Some crazy Mom feeling slighted their 9 year old didn't get a shout out. The development you talk about led to the results above for the older girls. Now wait until a couple of the top girls leave to play ECNL then your only trophy may be the Mt Hood Challenge

Current GU12 and GU13 are horrible teams. Between them they won 1 game in state cup and were barely competitive in leagues. There is still hope for GU10 and GU11 but only if the top girls stay at WT_FC, which they won't.
