What are the chances of any of the ECNL teams being decent?

U15 - Could have a good team. CO and THUSC both did well, FC wasn't too bad either, but needs WT players

Seems like both FC and CO/THUSC would benefit from some of the Eugene Timbers players joining at this age group. But why would Eugene girls drive north and pay so much money when they have better coaches their own club and can find good competition in showcase tournaments for half the price? Probably a few players from Bend are asking the same question.

I don't think anyone is really worried about that. East Side, West Side, & Vancouver should worry though.

Good question. They may chose to stay down there and continue playing and there is nothing wrong with that.

Of course they are open! Despite the hot air constantly blowing from FC's yammering hole, they don't develop players and don't have the players they need to play in the ECNL. That is why they are aggressively recruiting from outside their club.

If FC Portland isn't able to overhaul their teams, they are screwed and will fail a 3rd time.

Lot of jawboning in the caves of Gresham these days. Maybe some day your club will accomplish something and be allowed to join the big leagues. Until then, penalize your DD by keeping her out of ECNL if you want. I'm sure she'll forgive you eventually...

The try outs are going to be open try outs for ANYONE. Not just the clubs players. By the end of the day those ECNL teams will be combinations of players from many different clubs.

And that's what I said in the original post. Some of the current teams at the ECNL clubs are pretty putrid. They will need a lot of help. At U14 for example, might as well just replace the FC team with FCSC if you want a decent team. Wonder if the FC parents will continue to be excited that they got ECNL when their DDs are relegated to the B team.

And all those West Side & East Side teams will lose some of their best players. Bend Timbers will then dominate you every year. LOL

It really won't matter who is "dominating" the OYSA / OPL leagues because they've both been relegated to upper end recreational soccer. A fine place for that caliber of player. Take the top 40 plus players out of those leagues and there won't be much to brag about at the end of the day.

Our TA club is not discouraging anyone from going to ECNL tryouts but we are cautioned to maybe wait a year and see how both clubs manage this transition. Seems like good advice.

Smarter would be to just stay put and beat the ECNL teams without paying 8k.
