I think this is for U14. Whomever does their website leaves a lot to be desired because it isn't clear. But they do mention U14 registration.

I believe the meeting is regarding ECNL in general but obviously because of the tryout it will mostly be attended by U14 parents and players. I'm assuming they will have more info meetings later in summer as the older ages have tryouts.

Word is that U15+ tryouts will be invite only. There are no unknown skilled players by that age.

They'll have tryouts. There is always a "surprise" that shows up. Plus they will need to find players 15-25 cuz there just aren't that many skilled players to fill two 20 plus roster teams in PDX.

I think they'll find they will need to have "open" tryouts especially in specific age groups.
You can "invite" all you want but what if the majority of invited talent has predetermined the other club? It would be awful embarrassing to have to hold a "supplemental" tryout because your invited players shunned your offer.
At the end of the day they may have their starting 11 committed prior to tryouts but they need to fill the rest of the roster with as high a quality paying players to make this thing work.
Their "open" tryout will be to find the best quality "role" players left over from the two club draft

especially this first go-around as they build teams from scratch

No doubt FC ECNL teams will practice at least half the time at UoP. More central location for WA and Eastside players. Some FC teams practice there now.

U14 ecnl is going to be a diaster. The best players are staying with their teams and no one is going to be a part of the trial run of ecnl.

Don't expect Vancouver kids to go to FCp over thusc. It doesn't make sense travel wise as well as the development and reality of FC Portland making this work is next to zero.

                      Watch and find out.

Id expect this to be on a lot of age groups not just u14. These ecnl teams are going to be weak and full of crazy parents trying to buy a scholarship that isn't going to be any more if not less than the good players and families that aren't sold on this pyramid.

The few ecnl campaigners on here need your kid more than they need to spend 8k getting worse on a team of 24 than a team of 16 strong with a good team.

If they utilize T-hills and Wilsonville HS, as they say, then it's a wash. SW WA kids do Liberty HS right now.

Vancouver kids should be excited about having practices in....Wilsonville!! LOL. Going to thusc would be a giant mistake. FC has proven to develop players at a high level. Both ECNL clubs will be able to compete, but not at a high level nationally...

Don't believe it will cost 8K, especially for U-14 age.
