Part of that focus should be appropriate compensation for the quality coaches who are not DOC's.

Nope. I see no tangible benefit in merging but would love to hear your third grade analysis of how it's going to bring Oregon to the next level because we're now magically elite. Thick headed ideas like the coaching will be better or the consolidated team is going to be much stronger. The fact is for Oregon soccer to get better the core coaching has to be better. This merger is just a distraction and effort by DOCs to consolidate power. Merging suckfire with Busc will create FC Suckbust, with the same old coaching. Give it two years and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Need more than consolidation

OSSA is the one example we have of consolidation, yet they have only two top quality girls teams to speak of (U17G and U18G).

While I agree consolidation is needed, it alone is not sufficient.

I haven't been complaining for consolidation. Only the honking geese heads who think that's the answer. Until people understand that it's about development and figure out how to achieve that, all these mergers and elite leagues will accomplish little. Just make wannabes like you believe the illusion.

Easier to develop when you have some of the best consistently practice with some of the best and then play against some of the best. Most would argue that at earlier years ODP even with the RTC is a good value. Now expand that to multiple tournaments, more practices and more team feel.
