Garret Smith is a great coach and a high percentage of FC players do get to play at UOP just leave it at that.
      Ha. No and no.

Leave it at that? Maybe tell the truth first? Let's add up the people that were baited and released only to fuel the club team. And as far as his coach? If you say so mom.

Not as connected or highly thought of as you think. On several occasions national team coaches and college coaches ask UP coaches about some of his players...Sorry.

What is with you? You posted some snarky remark that someones child didnt have the grades to get into UOP. I pointed out that the requirements were not that rigorous. As far as Garret Smith Goes, about 20% or more of his current team have a verbal to UOP. Those are decent odds in the vast world of D1 athletics. Maybe they do not all work out, but that could be said for every program. We are not chasing the UOP dream, but some kids are and Garrets team is as good as any to get seen....BY HIM.

Just giving first hand information from talking direct to the college coaches who inquired. Sounds like your information has come from hearsay. That's fine what works for you and your family is what is most important.

I just wonder whether the Onyx players and parents would (if they were being totally honest) prefer a different voice and coaching style? Seeing as they have had the same thing for so long.
Smith did a very poor job of coaching FC PDX Purple girls team a few years back. They didn't improve and became further behind their age group. I don't only deny that, I totally reject it based on first hand experience.

A very low percentage of FC PDX players get recruited and play at UP? Where did you get the idea that they do?

2-4 per year is a "very low percentage"?

Great coach, but horrible communicator with parents and girls.

Uh. Making rediculous comments on here doesn't help your chances.

Technically recruiting for those reasons are against ncaa regulations. But thanks for the heads up.

And we all know you are chasing going to UP while a random kid who doesn't pay to get seen gets a spot.

Spelling "ridiculous" incorrectly makes you look like an idiot and you have lost all credibility.

1-4 girls from FC are recruited every year to play at UOP. No need to argue the proof is super easy to find.

You'll have to excuse him.. he's the kid that didn't get a spot.

Please share with us these coaches that you are referring to? I would like to think that there are some younger coaches out there who can bring some good qualities to the table. I sometimes get the feeling the older coaches are just coasting and lack hunger.
