I would think that FCP would do well to have a larger feeder club under their umbrella, in order to compete with the Xfire merger of clubs which is exactly that.
BSC is aggressively bringing in a lot of 2nd tier clubs from all over under their umbrella, I have no idea if either outfit would be interested in merging or teaming up, but it would make sense on the face of it.
On the other hand the BSC DOC has deep ties to the Timbers as a former player and is now a Thorns coach, so I don't know how that would affect anything either.

Considering the Timber 'alliance' is Addidas based while FCP L.O./THUSC and ECNL are all Nike backed. Probably not. But having a feeder club(s) couldn't hurt.
