I actually think it will happen but might take a couple years. Sort of need to flush out stale mindset and older players who have relied on other means to date.
This is spot on and I might add that the term ODP is slowly fading and is being referred to as pre-academy now. The boys side will soon have a u14 academy, I imagine costs will be subsidized there too. This seems like a logical path for the girls down the road too.

You don't get it. I don't want my kids fees going to subsidize this ridiculous program. There are a lot of people like me. The Timbers are a FOR PROFIT organization. They have a claim for these kids IF they turn pro and yet they force all rec and competitive players pay for it.

Play park & rec? YMCA? What kind of money are we talking about for oysa fee? Is it $5 per year? I really don't know but it ain't enough to get all worked up about it. Luckily, the subsidy comes from a lot of other things like sponsors. I heard Adidas is paying for those young men to go to Germany. That's exciting. It's not like all Academy stuff is being paid for by rec and youth players. I don't mind throwing $5 at it. The product is worth it compared to YMCA or people wouldn't do it. Does anyone know if those few dollars actually go towards academy players? I imagine they could just as easily be intended for administration fees that are required to run the league.

As the Timbers grow, sponsors will grow... More opportunities will follow. Jump on board my friend. I'll even extend my hand and help you up. It's exciting. It really is.

Excellent. And I'm sure the Thorns Academy will flourish without you. Enjoy paying 7-8 G's and training in Seattle.

I will agree that it will be pricey, but training will be in Portland. THUSC WAS ACCEPTED TO ECNL

I hope they do we have no problem with that. We have made the choice not to spend anymore money on their/ODP product. This is our choice and what is best for our kids. Maybe this will open the door for others to flourish that would be great.

Nope. Did not happen. Nor will it ever. But I do wish you and your DD luck. I hope she gets one of the coveted crossfire spots and your long drives feel shorter than they actually are.

On Wednesday the ECNL board voted for their new additions and THUSC has accepted 1 of the NW spots.

Now that we know Thusc/Crossfire got one, has anyone heard if FCP got the other?
