FCSC new G99 team

They even had city approval--according to FCSC. And even had a fundraiser to donate your change. So not making stuff up. Maybe you missed it in all of all Joe's sales pitches. Or maybe they know they will never raise enough money to make it happen, so they dropped it.

There was a plan put together 5+ years ago to build a turf field at HB Fuller. There is even a model of the proposed field stored in the FCSC office at Salmon Creek Indoor. It was rolled out again at the AGM 2 years ago (the one where only 3 people attended). FCSC would need to save up another $700M to make it happen and, with the small size of the club, that's not going to happen any time soon.

FCSC is now completely surrounded by Pacific SC/FC clubs and the pool of players from rec on up is shrinking. Time for them to join Pacific FC...

If I remember correctly they scrapped the project because the permitting process required that it be available to all sports and all residents since it was a public facility. The ROI just didn't add up for SCSC.

Honest question: Why would Pacific want anything to do with FCSC?
IMO Pacific is just as competitive for the vast majority of teams. Their boys side is superior and all for a fraction of the cost of FCSC. I could maybe see Salmon Creek Rec and Pacific aligning but FCSC (advanced comp) would be an anchor. Plus they'd have to pay for a DOC & family which they've demonstrated they don't need. Pacific is doing just fine. It would be a huge mistake to align with FCSC.

The sad truth though is back before pacific started there were people saying FCSC should basically focus on the same area that Pacific is excelling at currently. That level of player that wants to pay a little less, and be able to play multiple sports and perhaps isn't as high level as the top players. however, FCSC's obsession with trying to compete with Washington Timbers kept them from going that route, and now pacific has a pretty strong lock on that middle group, and washington timbers is still the biggest in town, and FCSC is still struggling to put together multiple teams.

No Dog in the race, but I looked at the standings in OPL this last fall. Does FCSC have boys teams or is it a girls only club? I never really realized this. Anyways, Looks like FCSC girls u11-u14 are one of the top 6 teams in just about every age group. Pacific FC is 1st division or lower. From an outside perspective, I'd take the low quantity and high quality over the high quantity and low quality. With all the teams that Pacific FC has, it looks like they're getting exactly what they paid for.

I know at the 00 age group, my daughter and her friends cringe when they have to play FCSC as they are one of the only teams we can't seem to beat. My DDs team has never played a Pacific team yet in any tournaments or league play.

Pacific is a select team level team and 4-5 of their kids don't want to play for their coach and leaving.

Not sure what the big deal is. Bridlemiles 2nd team may be getting a new coach too? Maybe we should post that too?

Basically that age group had a B team which fell apart mid year the coach was a diaster and a lot of promises made fell short. Evidently now they have a new B team with the another diaster coach. So at least they have a B team.

Maybe the team that comfortably won OYSA spring league (most goals, most wins, most points, highest GD) is looking for more challenges elsewhere.
