And I know because we experienced it.... But I have an idea. If you aren't a fcsc parent
And that ignorant to give that kind of advice, go and see for yourself.....really.
^^^^ Perfect example of a Jilted parent ^^^^

If you are joining a new team, find a current player on a team.

Ask them why they stay on the team.
Ask them why this crazy person left the team.
Ask them how many people have left the team in the past few years and whether they were cut or whether they left on their own volition.
Ask them if the coach encourages players to try harder and improve.
Ask them examples of how a coach demonstrates sportsmanship.
Ask them if their child wants to go to practices and games.
Ask about playing time for kids at the top of the team and at the bottom of the team.
Ask them if there are ways for players to get more playing time if they are on the lower end.
Ask them if there are ways to get more challenging play if they are on the high end.
Ask them about red and yellow cards for players or coaches throughout the year.
Ask them if the parents are supportive.
Ask if the other players are supportive.
Does the team do fun things outside of soccer together?
Ask them how to get more training if a player wants it.
Ask them if the players are friends off the field.
Ask them what a coach says when a team wins a game and when a team loses a game.
    Then, watch a practice.
    Then, watch a game.

Then take all of this into account and make your own decision. Much more valuable than any of the crap you read on talking-soccer.

I would add to this list:

Does your dd learn things other than soccer from the program? Respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, etc.
Is the coach available to answer questions?
How does the coach handle player or parent conflicts?
How does the coach handle staff? Team Manager, Assistants, Parent volunteers, etc.

Before listening to any gossip or rumors, one should ask the gossiper how much playing time their child received. Typically, these parents' children weren't up to par with the level of the team and the parent blames the club, coach, doc, "soccer politics," other players, etc.

Tina is one example, she gets a lot of criticism on here. However, she always seems to have a full and successful team. People seem to be happy playing for her and she seemed positive and knowledgeable at PDP events. If we lived closer, I may consider her team.

Be careful about listening to the haters.
This thread wasn't directed to Tina but the fired ex-Pacific FC coach and his motivation in taking his old team with him to a new club. You may want to look at Tina and Joe's past recruiting success versus their ability to develop home-grown players.

Gotta say I know who this coach is and????????? No question he is the typical know it all just looking out for his daughter. As I believe someone said earlier his daughter is a descent player, really just a descent mid level player, who would benefit from a real coach. This coach is a shining example of what not to do. Hey coach I know your reading this and yes I think your an idiot and you all by yourself are doing nothing to help your daughter. In fact your hurting her potential to grow as a player. Nice job, you self serving ass.

Based on this post I am assuming you have voiced this to him in person, right? Since you obviously feel very strongly about him and care so deeply about his daughter that you have sat down with him and politely gave him your opinion.

Volunteer coach who I am sure is doing his best in a small club and I am sure enjoys the time with his daughter.

              Who is the loser here?

Volunteer coach who cared more about winning than developing the players maybe? Fit right in at salmon creek with the other coaches.

There is a reason SC is called Misfit Island. If you are unable to coach anywhere else, SC will take you, as long as you bring kids and money over.

This coach is a nice guy. Anyone on here who says differently doesn't know him. He coached my youngest daughter on a lower team for Pacific FC two years ago. He didn't even have a kid on the team and volunteered all year. He was a good coach and I didn't see any bad sportsmanship at all.

These people just want a premier experience for select price.

The fact we are on here bashing a coach who hasn't done anything truly bad is a bit disturbing to me. Most coaches in youth soccer are either volunteers or get paid so little that they still are losing money on their time. Are they all great? no. Are they right for every single player? no. In general I truly believe all these coaches go out and give their all, and sometimes they have a rough time. But to come out and bash coaches who are spending their free time to try and improve these kids just feels wrong to me.

Obviously I feel differently if a coach does things like gets thrown out of games, abuses players, or something tangible we can talk about, but bashing a coach on an open forum just because you don't feel he has done a good job just feels wrong.

There is a history of past concerns and infractions surrounding this coach.

Am I surprised that Pacific FC board released (fired) him? No
Am I surprised it took this long? Yes

Because my daughter plays Pacific and we've been coached by him before, I started asking around. I spoke to the doc and this coach wasn't fired. His team wanted to play premier so they decided to move. Once a few people found out he was talking to other clubs, some on the Pacific board didn't like it. Sorry, there is no drama here.

Isn't that basically showing that there is drama there? The fact the board didn't like it?

Something interesting about this is this year there were 2 teams that wanted to move to premier clubs (99's and 03's) and both were done deals (or thats what was thought) yet the board seemed upset about it like the DOC signed off on it and went behind the boards back. It sounds like at the 99 level the board isn't fighting it and wants that coach gone. At the 03 age group (also the DOC's age group) the board would not give him approval to coach the same age group so he switched what he was going to do and stayed at pacific instead. Just some odd stuff going on.

Boards aren't excited about teams leaving and losing revenue. The 03s were approved to go also The team parents backed out at the last minute due to increased cost.
