Should never be about the team. Should be about the individuals. Teams are needed only to play the games.

At this age, agree. If statements of girls this young only getting 40% playing time is true then does not appear to be development. How can a team stay together and be successful at older ages?

Yeah kids just naturally play with technique, team shape, quality passing, etc. These guys are awesome but because they volunteer their time and choose to coach for Pacific they are "sub-par". What a joke. Same reason people on here keep finding reasons to sale the Revolution short. They are not paying a ton of money, Pacific is a select club, they are not supposed to play that way. Gets old.

Well, at least the ones who aren't stuck in a position they don't like and/or are stuck on the bench most of every game. The teams we have played versus since u10 (includes opl teams) all seem to do the same. See the same kids, in the same positions playing most of the game year after year. No wonder Oregon soccer is in the state it's in.
Some kids have the physical and mental capacity to play multiple positions. Some don't. Some kids are playing advanced competition and shouldn't be. Some kids parents believe that everything a kids needs to be a good soccer player comes from their club, it doesn't. I would put it back on the parents to ask the question about what their kid needs to learn (skills and understanding of the game) to earn the opportunity to play multiple positions. I would also encourage coaches to do some work and explain this to parents. Might be some tough conversations but it's best for the game and development.

You sound like a public school teacher.

Yes, the coach needs to analyze each kid and then sit down with the parents and discuss their potential for playing different positions. Should also talk about their feelings and how each position makes them feel. OR in practices have them rotate into different positions. Boom--they are learning new positions.

Funny you say that. Some parents drop their kids off at school and expect them to get a complete education so they never work with them outside of school. Same thing happens at soccer. So, soccer and school become child sitting services and parents lack of constructive and collaborative involvement leaves gaps in their game / education.

Yes and the teachers at public school never take accountability when children fail learn. They argue for more money for smaller classrooms but in end it rolls over to benefit packages. Funny how that does not happen so much at private schools.

Honestly, fear. Fear of failure, fear of being unaccepted. If your dd is truly a top player she should be looking for an experience that will challenge her and push her to her full potential. But most parents would rather say their dd is a top player then challenge her to actually be one. Hence fear.

Parents that send their kids to private schools are the kind of parents that are active in their kids education, and most likely their extracurricular activities as well. At least a portion of public school parents do view school as free day care, and take no active role in the education of their children.

Sounds like your the type of person who hands over their hard earned money pretty easily. I have land for sale in Florida, dirt cheap, prime piece, you interested?

...and then has the stones to blame others for "not developing" as a soccer player or being rejected by Clark Community.

Lots of players getting "rejected" from Clark Community right to Portland FC I suppose.
