Do a quick Google search. You will find there are many clubs that have already started banning headers at younger ages and it is only a matter of time until US youth soccer decides to follow suit. That would probably be the smartest move they have done in years.

      Google?

What I want to do it who are "they".

As far as I know there is no appetite at the state or national level. Please tell me more about your insider information.

The point is this...if the coach, oh, I don't know, after 6-0 had started serious restrictions it never would have went past 10-0 (which is still crazy BTW). The fact it went past 10 without the coach saying "no more shooting" is just flat out crazy.

But, this is why this team is still talked about. No one from the team has said, "yes, this was wrong, we are disappointed in the coach!" etc.
It only takes 1 blow to the head to cause a concussion...not sure what you mean by "produced enough headers". And if you tell me that those girls couldn't kick the ball hard enough, I suggest you go out to their practice and try your head on for a little target practice. Perhaps that will knock some sense into you.

Take a look around the local tournaments a few weeks ago and look at the lopsided scores. Are all of those coaches and programs terrible too? I watched THUSC teams pound each other by 10 goals - and they are in the SAME club. You might as well label every club in OR/WA the same.

You have to let go of your argument at some point. It was a mistake, sure, but it was also one of those really weird circumstances you don't find yourself in often - and certainly not again moving forward. Time to forgive and forget and come up with a different argument. The Revolution have a dang good team full of a great group of kids, tell your daughter to come try out and she would have the time of her life.

Were the Revolution prepared enough on 9v9 fields to win that game? Absolutely not. But the athletes were the similar skilled, style was the same, just more experience on smaller fields and against better competition.
I was there, were you? I was standing near the center, between the WPFC and the Pacific parents. Almost got hit by flying toy trucks a couple of times, as some out-of-control Pacific twerp thought it was a great idea to throw his toys in the air instead of watching his big sister play soccer...

The truth is that this game was beyond Pacific's reach early, inside 15 minutes. They created no legitimate scoring attempts and couldn't stop WPFC from shooting at will. Lucky for Pacific that U11 girl's shots aren't very accurate. Being so bent out of shape at the realization that your team really isn't "all that", you probably didn't recognize that the WPFC coach moved his players around in the second half, with forwards playing defence, defenders playing midfield, etc. He was not concerned in the least that his team was going to lose that game.

It was actually quite entertaining to watch the Pacific sideline as the parents kept looking at each other like "how can this be?", "how come we look so slow?", "why does the other team have the ball all the time?"...

Yeah we aren't anywhere close to the Seattle teams, but we are doing well here Oregon/SW Washington and that is all that matters. It's all good fun and the kids are still very young, so we try to focus on the fun aspect as much as possible.

Oh yea, but you said you've been around long enough to know...must be right again.
Again, you must be the idiot coach or parent who supports them blindly. So many other things you could do even if you are against headers which will not take you very far first year coach.....

Get smart and get out of that club before you end up like the rest of the pacific players....struggling to make a team other than at Pacific.

Your "header" claim is ridiculous.....you should not play soccer if you believe in this craziness!
I've seen kids cut from top level teams because they can't head the ball.
One big blow to the head in any sport is dangerous but heading a ball so many times per year does nothing....especially these days with how the balls are made.

Back in the old days when they played with a leather ball I could see a problem....heading a ball that weighed lbs wet is different

You are so off the right path it is hilarious!

If you are the coach I'm really having a hard time figuring out how you are still coaching with your justifications.

If you are a parent......my lord you need to learn a bit before you talk.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you have the best GU11 team at Pacific FC...

Here...This was announced during the World Cup - which you probably don't watch because you don't have any time outside of posting on other teams threads...

This has support nationwide and is growing. I would do whatever I can to protect my daughter - including advocating the ban. If that means she cannot play at a higher level, well Pacific is just fine for her.

What the article fails to mention is that "concussion from heading the ball" aren't caused by the ball; they are caused by the girl's head hitting the upright, another head, or the ground.

What part of that post was "off the right path"? I happened to agree with it. Let it go man. Just let it go...

Oh - I forgot you have a PHD in idiocy. It is obvious that not all girls concussions are caused by headers, but it is also obvious that some are. Do some research on concussions in general and then come back with your PHD worthy response again.
