I wonder if the DOCs of our club knows this before making deal. Fact is your team only has about 5 decent players but the rest will get a free ride in over Timbers girls. Hopefully some Timbers parents will be questioning this otherwise head to Portland. Good thing is Portland tryouts later so if tryouts are a joke there is still other options. This team team and coach not great as think and only reason loosing our Reds coach is the $$ bringing in.
you keep bringing up that the timbers are doing this for money...
do you not understand that the timbers would have a reds, green, forest and white team regardless if pacific comes over? It's not about money, it's about combining talent...in this case its about combining athletes because I've seen this Pacific team and they are 6-9 months behind technically when compared to Seattle alone....but with a good curriculum and some oversight, this group could be a strong group. They will have their normal problems with players playing other sports but so does every other team.

      Keep thinking that.

        its a fact....not just a thought....

Washington Timbers will have at least four teams at this age group no matter if Pacific comes or not.....

the Pacific move just bumps players down the line and generally the bottom tiered players either decide to stay or go to pacific or fcsc....it happens every year!

Washington Timbers will have 48 players paying to be in the club NOT MATTER WHAT!
the question is, will Pacific parents be sharp enough to know that they pay just about the same at Pacific as they would at a FCSC or a Washington Timbers....because after you "piece meal" the entire years worth of fees it ends up costing about the same.

After you piece meal, it is still less than Timbers. Even hiring a private trainer all year, indoor, futsal. It still was cheaper than Timbers registration cost alone. You also need to piece meal the rest of your Timbers cost in there also. Indoor, outdoor futsal, etc. Those are not included in the registration price. It is what it is, Premier and Select but the cost is not even close.

That also included turf time with only 3-4 teams on the field instead of 8 teams crammed onto Mackenzie stadium.

I am not going to quote anyone here; I think everyone can figure out the posts I am talking about. After reading this garbage I am beginning to realize 90% of these posts are from one person. Looking at the grammar and knowing this thread is about U10 girls, combined with the hatred for everything soccer in Vancouver and especially the Timbers. I would bet this is all coming from the same cancer we have on our WT's team. Mom is completely off her rocker, tried starting her own team mid-season and emailed everyone to death until finally WT's DOC got involved. Guess she knew we would not budge or my DD was not good enough for her but several friends of ours were getting 30 plus text message per day and had to put in a special ring tone so they would not accidently answer their phone. I think not being able to do this finally put her over the top looney. She knows she won't be welcome back hence all the bad blood and the suggested move to Portland.

Other than entertainment I don't really get the purpose of this forum. Everyone is anonymous so they go on here and say whatever mean and nasty things they want with no fear of reprisal.
Bottom line is this. I have seen this team play and they are very fun to watch, great focused group of youngsters. These coaches can pull teams together and develop players, no doubt about it. Anyone who thinks you can just throw 9 year olds on the field and have them play with that kind of shape and possession does not know the sport, lots of hard work and patience goes into a team like this.
Obviously the potential move has ruffled some feathers and caused some animosity and opinion. Does no good to come on here and hide though. Let's see what comes of it.

Reading this thread is interesting. Trying to understand Vancouver soccer and clubs. I get the impression that there is not to many choices for kids to play classic level of soccer? The 01 thread mentioned players driving over to Portland. Can someone please explain this? There does appear to be players willing to make an hour drive to play on teams and it sounds from other forums that many do come from the Washington Timbers. Maybe starting a thread regarding Portland clubs and the difference between Vancouver clubs would help. Trying to understand why Vancouver parents make the drive? Also it will be interesting to see what becomes of this team when they move. I hope that people will update the thread to see what happened to players and team.

Vancouver is really no further than going from one club to the other in Portland, I think you just hear of it more. We lose teams at older ages from time to time because of the smaller player pool and they tend to end up in Oregon as well, but overall Vancouver has some reall good people and programs.
Your right it will be interesting to see this group grow. My last one is a year younger but got to play up some last summer with the second team. The coaches are really neat guys and are very involved and dedicated to the sport. I have been following, hoping the team does not move, it would be a tough loss for Pacific in more than one way.

players move from every club in the pdx area....not just over at the Washington Timbers
Washington Timbers from what I know is the largest soccer club in the pdx metro area...
losing 15-20 kids a year to Portland isn't a big deal when they have over 4000 players

It's a little more than 15-20. The real problem is that they are almost always the top players in their age group at WashT. It's a very consistent talent drain every year.
