They can get competition from tournaments, scrimmage older teams. No need for all of that travel at this age. And you wonder why your kid got burnt out on soccer.
Will see next year. Your post will look silly then.

Fantastic point and right on the money. The parents chose the opportunity with the coaches they liked. At the time the parents did not know that this would be a very good team. I think it was a perfect set of circumstances, but in the end cannot be sustained. This team added 0 new bodies this spring. Tryout numbers are lower and people just don't want to play for a small club at older ages.

1 team, and that team plays in both leagues. OPL is here until Gavin decides he wants a united league. With the dearth of talent in OYSA, nows not the time for him to push for unification...

If they stay together in two years, then the problem will be that they have to start out in a low RCL division.

Lots of "ifs" in there, of course. Good luck, Pacific!
Pacific isn't an RCL club and can't play in the RCL unless the team moves to Washington Timbers. And even then, WashT isn't allowed to place teams in the RCL below U14, or starting above the bottom division.

Starting a team like this in the bottom division would be bad for everyone involved. You can't take a team that competes really well with division 1 RCL teams and put them against their #3 and #4 teams. It would ugly and not helpful. They get better competition in both the OPL and OYSA - unless it was D1 RCL.

That's not true . I'm heard the '03 boys are going to do RCL next fall

False. This team added one new player and quite a few on the b team. Revolution is a tough team to crack. Feel free to try if you are up for the challenge.

Revolution has a great thing going and others are just jealous. Stay the course as long as you can. Save money for the high school years when the best Revolution players might/will be on top travel teams which adds up to lots of $$ quickly. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! My kids are older & we live too far away but we live in a small market so have a smaller club. Our top players go to just as good colleges as top big Pdx clubs (even though we regularly lost to their teams). Revolution way ahead of the game already since they are already besting the big club teams.

You heard wrong. RCL demoted WashT to a "remote association". No vote on the board, no teams below U13, and then starting at the bottom. It's all detailed in the RCS meeting notes from March 4 at

                    http://www.washingtonyouthsoccer.org...gue/resources/

"Membership: WA Timbers will be addressed with a change in status from a voting member to a non-voting member and a remote Association so that their best teams may be entered into the league at the lowest divisions on an individual basis at U13 and older. Current team commitments do not meet the threshold for voting membership."

Oh no, I hope not. I would hate for my post to look silly. Timbers are the club losing all their players currently. Why would anyone go over there until they get their act together.

May be true now, but just wait 1-2 yrs

Yes--everyone knows that Rev has a great thing going now....and maybe into next year...but, SOONER rather than later, it will peter out. Just check to see how the Pacific U13s and U14s do......just cannot compete, and win, regularly, against better teams/clubs/competition.

My older daughter played against the Pacific girls (their older teams) and we consistently out played them or beat them. Maybe the better girls leave the club at U 13 or U 14 and come across the river to FC PDX or Thusc or WashT?? I don't know but the club isn't nearly as strong or competitive for the older ages.

Yes--they have an ALL WORLD type team at U-11 and can beat teams by 20 goals and walk on water and everything is lollipops, unicorns and rainbows right now but again, just wait 1-2 yrs and we will see where this team is or if they have disbanded or the more talented girls have moved on to a bigger/better club for more training or better training.

                        It remains to be seen....

Well it started as a select club, it is a select club. Now they are developing some very strong youth teams. So not really a fair comparison at this point to compare to their older teams. Maybe give them a few more years to see where they are at. Because there are no good WT teams at that age either and they have been doing it for a long time now. FCSC has no good older teams at all, if any.

One is nothing to brag about. THUSC has play ups and several more teams. Does the new girl even start?

Exactly. No one moves their girls "TO" the Washington Timbers. Only "AWAY" from them. Just in case you weren't aware of the dire situation on the girls side at WashT:

                              No G96 "A" team
                              No G97 "A" team
G98 "A" team has never been competitive (or even played) in a top division
G99 "A" team has 11 players and may be about to implode completely as even more girls leave for Portland clubs
                              No G00 "A" team
G01 "A" team lost whole starting lineup over the last two years and is marginally competitive with the bottom half of a watered down OYSA league.
G02 "A" team lost several top players and is now a bottom dweller in a watered down OYSA league

So why exactly would you want to move a good team to this club?

They still have connections. Pacific does not. Good team has better opportunities at Timbers. We all know this .
