Spring Soccer is upon us, albeit late. So, tell me, what and when do you feed your soccer monster before a game?

We like to give our little soccer monsters some Good ole deep fried Rocky Mountain Oysters prior to the big game.

There was an old thread that discussed this and actually had some good suggestions. I think it really depends on the kid and the time. Some kids literally eat nothing and some eat bacon and eggs and do ok sometimes but really neither is the best. We just try to get the kids to eat something semi healthy regularly before and after to keep them fueled.

I personally would not be able to run after eating bacon at least for four or five hours. Back when I did lots of marathons my food of choice was large salads. They didn't seem to bother my stomach and didn't weigh me down. Try to get a 12 year old to eat a salad for breakfast....

Help
Looking for real input. What do your DD and DS eat prior to kickoff? What works best for them? How soon or late should a pregame meal be? I would be most grateful to anyone willing to lend real advice regarding the subject. Thanks.

My kids both eat a big breakfast with potatoes at a minimum of two hours before game time. Bananas are a great in the lead up to the game.
Pasta is a good day before meal. I do triathlons and this is what we eat and it works great.
I'm not sold on sports drinks. Artificial colors and other junk. Some swear by them.
This all said, the best player by far on my sons team eats a square meal of gummy worms, snickers and soda before games and he has more energy than the next 5 kids combined, so go figure.
