The player fees at the clubs have always been paid for by the parents, so really the clubs carried no weight. Now that players fee profit has been eliminated (players now registered at US Club) and the newly structured fees at OYSA, the reduction in expense to the clubs has not been shared with the parents.
So the ODP program lost a portion of it's revenue, the cost of services to the club have been reduced but yet the cost to the parent to play at the club stayed the same. In reality, the parents are still paying for ODP, just none of it is now making it's way to the program, instead it's staying at the club.
To simplify this, ODP as a program has it's costs (we will assume for this there hasn't been a change as far as uni's etc...). In the Pre OPL days, ODP received a contribution from every player in Oregon, something like $1 per player card. In responding to OPL, OYSA untethered all if it's programs forcing them to self sustain. This eliminated to USYS card subsidy, they also had fewer players to spread the costs across. Bottom line is ODP as a program probably hasn't changed that much in cost structure. Outside forces have taken away subsidies that made it more affordable on a per participant basis.
I dont care about ID2 over ODP I just want to know if any of the boys looked any good. Thats what both of the programs are about finding talent to move forward. Been too much written about both programs lets talk about the talent pool that turned up.
Guess no one cares about the kids its just about my program is better than yours!!!!! Thought this was about soccer and not about people puffing out their chests.
We have all pretty much had our lives and blown it or not its about the kids now these threads for me dont seem to want to talk about the kids.
Whether ID2 OPD EPD its about helping our kids to be better soccer players nothing will ever be perfect we dont live in a perfect world. Get over it and move on.
Again I asked did anyone see any prospects at Lake Ridge and all I have read since that about the players is nothing. So I can only think the posters here who have so much to say about the programs never went to find out?

What this really might tell you is two things:
1. There are very few boys parents on this forum.
2. The better boys parents don't peruse this forum.
Id2 was a waste of time. To completely as my kid got some touches on the ball but we could have done that at home. None of the players my kid was with including my own are national team good and the coaching was pretty blah considering the reputation behind the two people running it. Just my two cents. All it is, is a ploy but pointless all together.
Others have asked this question in the past but I don't think it's ever been answered.
Has there ever been a player from Oregon or SW Washington that has transferred or been asked to play further in the ID2 program that wasn't already in ODP, that has gone to camp or beyond already ?
Meaning, have they ever found anyone new, that wasn't already Identified ?

Probably not as any kid at that level is easily identified in local tournaments and league play.

What you participated in was not ID2. It was either the OPL Academy or PDP. Out of this group only 1, 2, or 3 kids will every get invited to ID2.
If you think it is a waste of time then you shouldn't do it.
Id2 training was fine. Nothing special. I did not see any boy stand out but I also did not see any kid that was way out of his league. For the short time I watched, they all looked good. Unlike PDP or RTC, where you have 5 top kids and some middle of the road and then 5 kids who should not even be there.
Decent experience, I am sure there is some anxiety, so the more they go to these, the less anxiety.
The big field scrimmage was a joke. No ball movement, kids getting the ball and taking off, look at me! So don't pass, as you may never get it back. Not sure what the coaches got out of the big field scrimmage. Probably why they called it 20 minutes early.

There is also a general discomfort with a question "were there any boys worth looking at?" This question is difficult for two reasons, one it is very subjective, to you worth looking at May be different than to me. Second while this board lacks most vestiges of restraint the one they do seem consistent in is not calling out individual players.

Probably not in Oregon. We are in a pretty small market with maybe 2 or 3 National team potential players in each age group.
I am guessing you may have a different answer if you asked this question in Southern California or Texas.
ID2 has only been around for 2 or 3 years. If ODP is on the decline and US Club backed leagues like ECNL is on the upswing then maybe the response in Oregon will be different in a few years. I am not saying ODP is on the decline. I am just repeating what I have heard about ODP.

What didn't impress you about the coaching? Which age group is your child in?
ODP is championed by the TA clubs and OYSA. PDP is the OPL answer to ODP. Right? So what is EDP? And what is ID2? Am I missing One?
This is all very confusing. In the common tongue, can someone give me a simple and PITHY description of each and benefits or cons as well. The first to do so wins a bucket full of good karma payable at your kids next soccer outing!
