Are we back up and running

That was a long painful outage!

Sorry for the outage. The database was corrupted and the site had to be rebuilt from scratch.

Did we lose a couple of days of posts?

Wow, sounds like a major task. Good work in the reconstruction

Yes, some posts may have been lost (more recent). Also, all post are being moved to a moderation queue (and need to be manually approved) in error. We are working on correcting that now.

Thank you for your patience, we will be back to "normal" soon

Any thought of requiring people to log in to post?

I would love to...But you would then hear the crickets chirping.

In the Mass Forum we created duplicate threads...one that required registration and the other not. The one with registrations had a few posts and then died...no one has posted for months.

In the end it is futile anyway...So many ways to get around it and ways to create duplicate usernames.

I disagree with you about registration. If you look at the independent forum for Washington soccer you will see that it is alive and well. In order to post you must register. Yes people can make multiple user names, but it has not died.

With this being the only Oregon (popular) site to discuss soccer, I think that requiring registration would only drive away the lunatics.

I too like the idea of registering. I get it that people may or may not partake in discussions but there are times when they probably shouldn't since all they want to do is to bash children, clubs, parents.... well, anything

                      Ask's the unregistered poster.

And no, we would not list IP addresses.

I have no problem with others wanting to link my posts to one another.

Ive been registered, but got so sick and tired of others calling out our club, it's players and administration, I choose now to remain behind the scenes.

I guess others have thicker skin

Nothing like corrupted databases . . . gives me shivers.

Your point is well made but I thought that was a constructive suggestion.

Would love to see requiring registration. Washington and S. Cal have what appear well supported sites that require it. I like to think of Oregonians as polite people, but the gloves kind of come off when they can post unregistered.

I won't ever click on advertisements for a site that allows unregistered users (for the record I have not always posted registered, but just think it is healthier going forward).

I can assure you Beachbum is not my christian name .. or have anything to do with any club or other affiliation.

But it does give me a level of credibility and history to my posts, and later as an Admin.

That said, a very large majority of people want to be unregistered...

Wow, there really is a moderator! I just assumed this place was the equivalent of an alley behind some really scary biker bar on SE Foster that nobody was paying attention to.

By allowing unregistered posting you get a lot more quantity but very little quantity. You have people trying to have a reasonable, rationale discussion and then nasty folks chiming in saying awful things, including about little kids. All under the guise of anonymity.

                              - Lots of really nasty, totally false rumors started.
                              - Insults directed towards people, some that seem to be slanderous.
                              - Criticism of "indirectly referred to" little kids.

                              Is that is your mission?

I hope that kids don't find this place, but I'd be surprised if they don't google their team name and find it eventually.

                              My honest opinion.
