    History Lesson

The OYSA was here since the 1970's just a little bit prior to the OPC/OPL that formed just recently.

Guess what the OYSA will still be here after the OPC vanishes.

Thanks to all of those wayward sheep for leaving the herd for awhile.

Eventually you will all come crawling back.

OYSA was created, then the OPL was created by:
      Westside
      Eastside
      PCU
      LO
      Southside
      PCU
      OSA
      THUSC

They wanted control over youth soccer. You can probably guess who the master mind of this was.

Now that OYSA has been brought to their financial needs by the OPC, a group who desperately seeks to control and benefit from youth soccer has taken over OYSA.

      That about sums it up.

OPC is the Oregon Premier Council. This is the body that governs OPL. It is a closed organization of the reps (mostly DOC's) of the 8 founding clubs mentioned below. No one quite knows TE composition however because if you look ate the list below southside and LO for the older's became OSSA which with other clubs became crossfire. As I understand it, the only OPC members still part of OPL are Crossfire, THUSC and FC Portland. I don't believe any new Memebers have been added so effectively OPC is three individuals who control OPL.

In case you are interested is setup as a mutual benefit corporation. This means that they have no responsibility to anyone outside their official members.

              That shou
D be enough to give you nightmares.

I have to shake my head at the drama in this forum. Why would anything to do with youth soccer give me nightmares? Let's all chat after the 1% of our kids get a college scholarship or the other .0001% play professionally. In five years or so none of this OYSA or OPL crap is going to matter in most of our lives. I ask my son every couple of months if he's having fun playing competitive soccer, if he says yes we keep doing it. If not, we'll find something else. He's a kid, not my little soccer robot. My guess is that soccer is not going to define his adult life, it shouldn't define yours or mine.

No kidding. I am sure that was posted by a TA DOC who want to justify moving back to the OYSA while forgetting they were once part of, or leaders off, the OPC/OPL.

No FC Portland? What happens to the money after the clubs left? Stay at OPL or did/will it get divided?

Repeat it as many times as you want, it's still the same sad story of 1 guy wanting to control youth soccer in Oregon.

Looks like you listed PCU twice and left off FCP

From OPL website...these are the 8 OPC founders:

To that end, the OPC founded the Oregon Premier League (OPL) in the Fall of 2008 as a competitive youth soccer league operating in Oregon. The OPL is not exclusionary. While some regionalization of leagues is age appropriate, teams from the entire state of Oregon are encouraged to participate in the OPL. The OPL is governed by the Oregon Premier Council, which consists of representative coaches from each of the following youth soccer clubs -
                              Eastside Timbers,
                              Lake Oswego SC,
                              Oregon Soccer Academy,
                              FC Portland Academy,
                              Portland City United SC,
                              Southside SC,
                              Tualatin Hills United SC, and
Westside Timbers; over the course of time from when the OPC began meeting in 2006, these eight clubs consistently attended and participated in the process of developing the direction of the council and, subsequently the OPL, and thus were the charter members of the Oregon Premier Council.

While I did not agree with everything OPL believed and did it was nice to see them try to work together. Now we have a really divided split. Not sure there is a solution but now we have a choice.
