    OPL Winter League

Teams are listed on the website now. Looks like OPL is combining divisions into just U16 and U18 for both genders. Numbers of teams are:

    U16B: 22
    U18B: 14
    U16G: 23
    U18G: 17

A total of 76 teams or exactly 50% of what there was in OPL Winter League last year.

    Clubs represented:

    Albany FC
    Aloha United
    Azul FC
    FC West
    Hillsboro SC
    Crossfire
    FC Portland
    TFA Barcelona
    Thelo United
    THUSC
    So Samba FC

Maybe I'm missing something, but when I go to their leagues, and winter 2014 It still gives the same info as before and doesnt' list any teams. Do you have a link?

Sorta like when ET vs WT gets to its 5th or 6th round? It looks to me like there are 6+ Very good teams in each age group in OPL Winter. Competition won't be a problem.

There are only 2 age groups for each gender. So, at a minimum, you have 6 A teams from each of FC, THUSC, and Crossfire. And in some cases, those clubs B teams are quite good also.

I wish OR would play under 1 umbrella, but we don't. What I do like about the combined Winter age is that THUSC, FC, and Crossfire certainly have the strongest girls programs and the difference between the top and bottom teams are fairly close. Traveling to Eugene, Medford, and Bend to play rec teams is cetainly not appealing. Also ZERO travel!

So let me be sure I understand what you are saying... You are excited because OPL has a total of 12 good high school boys team, and 12 good
                  Girls teams across all ages?

                  Really?

Who are the 6 teams per age and gender that are really good.

It's a simple question. Nobody care who is good in combined ages, you are forced to combine ages when you either don't have enough teams or quality.

If there are not at least 6 really good teams in the OPL per age and gender, ie; u15g, u15b, u15g, u16b, u17g, u17b, u18g, u18b it's completely understandable since over 125% of their team left for OYSA Timbers Winter League.

I was excited to read on the forum that each age and gender had 6 really good teams. Reads like that was just a hope. Darn.

Looking at this from a parent's viewpoint with an OPL player. I'm just not sure if I'm getting the value for the $$$ I was in years past, at least in terms of competition. Training will remain the same (very happy), but the week in and week out competition seems diluted compared to previous years.

Right now we still have FCP, THUSC and Crossfire Oregon on the girls side this will be good. Not sure about the boys side as it doesn't look that promising.

True. Those will be two good games for each of those teams. The whole situation stinks. I used to be able to talk with my kid and say, "you are playing at the highest level of soccer for age Oregon has to offer". Looking at the list, I'm not sure that is true any longer. Both leagues seem to be in the same boat.
