    OYSA / Timbers have FAILED

It's clear that OYSA / Timbers have failed to unite Oregon youth soccer, after creating the split in the first place.

There are 6 clubs in Oregon / SW Washington that consistently offer a top-level experience for youth soccer players. These clubs, WT, ET, ***C, FCP, Crossfire, and THUSC, have the vast majority of the best players, coaches, leadership, and facilities. If those 6 clubs aren't all in one league, then the Timbers have failed miserably.

Clearly, the Timber's vision for youth soccer is not shared by all and is not powerful enough to convince many that it's worth the risk. Offering the same thing that already existed, except with a different name, isn't nearly enough. The Timbers and OYSA need to step up and offer something so significantly better that no club can reasonably turn them down. Only then can they say that they are doing the right thing for youth soccer in Oregon.

they convinced 75% of the state .....
    you're missing the final goal......
to consolidate talent.......these things that you are seeing isn't something that GW or MP have made up.....what you are seeing is being brought down from the highest of levels in the US Soccer World......Klinnsmen has evaluated our youth system and is in the process of revamping it.....having MLS teams run youth soccer and consolidate talent is the new way to develop talent....it is what it is so plan on dealing with it.....what you see now is very painful, you and I agree with it..............you will see the benefits 10-15 years down the road so be patient.

Just insert OPL in the place of OYSA/Tmbers, the shoe fits as well.

      What was your point?

If only Club Boards ran the Clubs

We are in this Bi-polar situation because parents have allowed a handful of DOC's to take over soccer for their own benefit. Tom Atencio sits on the Board of US Club Soccer so expecting him to re-unite with a USYS league is a pipe dream. The DOC's at OR Crossfire are similarly disinterested in relinquishing any power to the OYSA Board or the Timbers operations so we have what we have.

It's interesting that the club who stands the most to lose FCP still thinks the ghost of Clive will carry them through any storm. Memo to FCP Board & Doc's: 90% of your future PAYING customer have never heard of Clive and really don't care about his accomplishments or even his "way" of playing the game. The world of soccer has evolved beyond Coach Charles and is best embodied in the MLS coach of the year and current Timbers head coach Caleb Porter.

So here we are with 5 DOC's willing to sacrifice Oregon youth soccer to protect their own fiefdoms and pay checks. To their credit they have brain washed the parents (and Boards) in their cults that the balance of Oregon soccer clubs just don't understand and could never provide an equally valuable soccer experience for their players.

The team participation in the Winter/Spring leagues is a peek into the future and what we see is that the vast majority of Boys and their parents are going to be getting their soccer experience outside the OPL. Keep telling yourselves OPL parents that quality is what will separate the leagues but to do that you have to ignore the history of the TA affiliated teams on the boys side.

You will get no argument from me that on the girls side the show is on the other foot however other than THUSC how many of the remaining OPL clubs can survive if even 25% of their boys migrate to the OYSA affiliated teams?

IMHO staying outside the OYSA league is club suicide!

Why would you want to go to robot soccer. If it is all under one roof it is sure to fail because the effort will not last as it has been prooven. Diversity brings competition and challenge, so to put it all in one can of beans it is sure to reek of the effect later. The only positive thing will be everyone comments will harp on what a bad idea the TA was. The Timbers new coach did a fair job, but 1 season does not make a dynasty. Can he repeat, seriously doubt that. Does he coach the youth side, nope. Lets be real and not piggy back on the success of an MLS team as they are only a name with guest appearances to lure you in. First priority is your children having fun and being challenged not getting an autugraph.

Okay drama queen!! "Club suicide"???? How do you figure. My girls play at one of the non TA clubs you mention and our club is healthy and strong and will be for many years to come. The ONLY thing that has changed for us, is that the league we play in has gotten smaller, but not necessarily worse. I cannot speak for every parent on our club, but the majority of our parents feel the new smaller leagues will be much better minus a lot of weaker teams that have left to go play in the OYSA where they belong. This is the ONLY thing that has changed.

We are still the same club, same names, same uniforms, same coaches, same everything. Besides, what is league play for??? League play serves one purpose. That is to prepare teams for tournament play. College coaches are not coming to watch league play. Most of the parents on our club could care less about league play. We care that our kids are getting the proper training and prepartation. They are. We don't need to put a TA behind our name, we don't need to wear red and white unis, and we don't need to play in the OYSA.

If you want to play for a TA club and the OYSA, then great! More power to ya! How about you do your thing and we in the OPL will do ours. Saying that this is club suicide is just plain dumb and ignorant.

I second that. This guy puts way to much attention into league play. "Club suicide" you have got to be kidding. My DD's club is going to be around for a long long time and we don't need TA to survive. This guy who keeps spouting the death of clubs if they don't join TA is pretty naive.

Both OPL club supporters said "my daughter's club'. Maybe OPL won't be bad for your older daughters but the folks with sons & u11-u14 girls will be in a much better place in OYSA. Other than perhaps THUSC, clubs will have an extremely tough time surviving if the boys' & u11-u14 girls' parents aren't satisfied.

I have thought this same thing since this all went down. I do NOT care about league play. I suppose if my kid was a little younger I may care more, but I still think her coaches would find ways of getting games and challenges. I just do not see why this split is so devastating. In fact, maybe it will lead to some healthy competition between the leagues and both will have to do their part to keep players. I am hopeful that we have way bigger fish to fry at ort club than our two league games against ....Medford? Corvalis? Eugene? Colleges do not care about these games. There are no bragging rights gained

This said, I keep going back to the original split from OYSA. It is the same guys going back to OYSA that left in the first place and they are repeating the same rhetoric (except the travel piece)! I think it is fine if people want to go back. Again, it is just a league, but seriously do not make these guys out to be heros. If its true that the OPL is a failure (this is not my opinion) then they are at least half responsible. Are they still on the OPL board?

My players team has 3 tournaments planned and 2 NWCL weekends all by March. That's about 18 games. What do I care if we play Eastside? And if our coach really wants to play a team why can't he just call and ask ? I feel like we have a lot more flexibility than we have ever had before. The TA post on here reek of insecurity Why? Why do you'all care at all? Go on your way and do not worry about the teams not in your league.

You may be on to something. It would be much cheaper for these clubs just to scrimmage each other and pocket most of the player fees. Not only will they not need to give $ to the administration of state soccer programs, they won't even have to pay for refs and such. In doing this they can keep most of the fees and stay a float for a couple more seasons as the boys side erodes.

                              Oysa joke

Without the other half of the state cup winners since 2011 the OYSA OPL split is a joke!!

The question isn't why doesn't the rest of the OPL teams join the OYSA, the question is why did the OYSA team leave the OPL.

Many us where there on that night at LO High to listen to all the reasons why OYSA was broke and why to support the move to the OPL
