For the 97 ecnl teams wp and crossfire were each missing 1 starter. other then that both teams had their full travel rosters, including regional and national players. Crossfire ecnl took thusc iridium down 3-1, with the first half being fairly even and the 2nd half definitely belonged to crossfire. the thusc game vs wp ecnl could have gone either way as it was an even match but thusc was able to put a nice goal in the net in the last minutes of the game.

It looked as though THUSC may have had a plyup also. See you all in round two

Didn't seem to slow them down though. And of course it's not your best players, it never is. I read many posts about ECNL teams in tournaments and it's always the same excuse. I might also inform the coach that when he make statements that make him sound like a pompus @$$, it just fuels the fire. My 2 cents.

At onyx, we don't make excuses . We are that good

Funny
Cracks me up, we all know that the ECNL teams are using these games for practice and giving players that are there play time in in some cases tryouts, But who cares, all the ECNL teams in every age have already secured a position in the semi finals that means 2 of the 4 semi final teams in each age will be ECNL teams. As for play ups all the teams are using guest players and play ups local club teams and ECNL teams. The ECNL teams could care less about this event. Just chalk this whole thing up to a good weekend if soccer and getting ready for league play and showcases. Everyone is really putting and looking way to much in to this event. Lol

Congrats to THUSC. It would be interesting to see them play the real ECNL teams but it is probably not to be since they are not in the ECNL and these teams are only staffed with the starters for ECNL games.
I can't help but think that the OPL league is going to be a little boring (as will the OYSA) as the other talented OPL teams didn't fare very well even with the predominance of very young players.
