Open your eyes regarding this 'League' controversy

In order to play youth soccer games their are only 2 critical ingredients needed.

    1. A team of youth players.
    2. A regulation size Soccer Field with goals.

Both the OYSA/Timbesrs & OPL do not own/lease any fields.

Why do you choose either of them?

Many of the Youth State associations across the USA do not run leagues.

Southern California has arguably the best independent youth soccer league running (Coast Soccer League).

Once you realize their are other options for league play independent of OPL & OYSA/Timbers you might ask yourself the natural question why do these groups want control of your children's competitive soccer experience?

In the end neither group offer fields, the key ingredient necessary to have a league.

If the plan was to take all the surplus revenue from league fees and build a multi field complex to host league games and post season tournaments then you would have to weigh in that factor vs. just blindly signing up to play with either of them.

As a side-note the OPL has used the Westside Timbers relationship with THPRD to gain access to THPRD fields which has allowed them(OPL) to host it's annual events now that balance of field power has shifted to the OYSA/Timbers.

    What a mess.

You do realize that reasonable rational discussion is not allowed here....

In all seriousness, I agree with your point. It is a mess. I am very concerned about the effect this will have on our kids. It's really frustrating that the adults having turf wars will negatively affect everyone.

It not any one group to blame, it's all the leaders that are failing the kids.

Focus on individual development and organize a lot of friendlies.

You also forgot the insurance that being a member of OYSA or US club soccer covers you for.

Buying insurance is simply buying insurance. Again you have a choice of where you buy the 'insurance'. Guess what the vendors are not limited to USYS and US CLub.

        Caveat Emptor.

You know what. I lost all respect for the OP when they can't spell the difference with "their".

1.a form of the possessive case of they used as an attributive adjective, before a noun: their home; their rights as citizens; their departure for Rome.

2.(used after an indefinite singular antecedent in place of the definite masculine form his or the definite feminine form her ): Someone left their book on the table. Did everyone bring their lunch?

            Examples of There vs Their

She was envious of their expensive shoes.
I don't want to go there because it's too cold.

The bottom line is that we consumers have let this happen. Partially out of ignorance of what it means for our kids and partially out of fear of the DOC and coaches retaliating against our kids because that IS what they do even for thing less important.

Face it this "divorce" has created a mass number of children of divorce and even though it is soccer these kids are getting much less than they would if they were playing in a happy house hold.

It's rather funny that the ring leader's of the "cheaters" (OPL) has gone back to their wife (OYSA).

The real bottom line is that we parents are SHEEP and are getting fleeced while our kids are not getting wool sweaters but cheap cotton wraps and we have only ourselves to blame.

Again OPL parents need to organize entire teams of parents and confront the Boards and the DOC in a unified front to have them in detail explain and list the benefits of staying separated. Further, they need to explain how any of the original goals of the OPL can be achieved with the loss of the TA and other clubs.

Why is it that the TA parents don't have to raise Cain with their DoCs? Who is causing this split? Certainly not the OPL clubs.

What was so wrong with the fall league this year that it needs to be replaced? Just the league, not all the other BS about Oregon soccer...

Wow, it must be simple living with such a one sided view of the world. So let me be sure I have this right, when OPL left OYSA, I seem to remember a lot of talk about self-determination, and OPL being forced to leave because OYSA wasn't responsive. Now that OPL is on the other side of it they suddenly cry about greed and unethical behavior.

Maybe it is simpler, perhaps OPL likes playing the victims. It must always be the other guy who is wrong, because OPL does no wrong?
